Because we now have a lot of torque delivery through the brushless motors. So in modified most guys will change their diff after every 3 runs at the most!! usually 2 and sometimes every run depending on the car!! even not checking your diff in 17.5 can upset your handling enough to cost you the race win!! Sometimes your diff feels good to but you rebuild it and your car performs better. its a strange concept but reality.
yep, TORQUE from brushless: It wears out balls quick and allows us to run alittle heavier diff without being killed by the guys running balls.
Plus it is easy to rebuild a gear diff to the same setting: use the same oil

Default Anyone know what happened to Team Hot Bodies?

There must have been a reason Hara had troubles? Diff issues? They must of not had a gear diffs? Someone from HB should be a rep for their company here on RC Tech.

Guys just remember there is a lot of great driver's out there now being backed by many manufacturers, and sometimes it takes you too long to get your car sorted for an event. sometimes it is one small thing you have missed or even misunderstood. We are talking about probably 2 seconds between making it and not making it. so run wide on a corner and you may miss out on making the A. How about the losi driver. he found his batteries were illegal and it cost him making the A. because when he got given some batteries that would let him run his custom top deck he placed fourth for that round. I know i have had meets where the car is fighting me the whole time and i scrape into the a and then work out the problem and am constantly chasing first for three finals. It's just the way things go sometimes!!

ya it's wierd becasue Hara's quote on redrc says:
"Hot Bodies’ Atsushi Hara has been trying two cars each run but is having trouble with the faster of the two stripping spur gears after just 2 laps. A more aggressive handling car, the 2000 World Champion said it is clearly faster but he needs to find a way to stop it from stripping gears. "

something doesn't add up, but it's really no big deal.
