The point is that the retail price of the motor is over the $50 retail price limit for 19T motors. Of course you can get them cheaper.

fatdoogy do you understand the RETAIL concept vs STREET PRICE since it doesn't look like it.

it's says RETAIL not the market price that everybody sells it at losing the profit that they should get on it. It's like the sticker price on a full size car. no one ever pays that much for a new car accept at Saturn

Ok ok.

5-48 .... "commerically available at a retail price of less than $50"

Who pays $50 or more for the quad mag? The hobby shops sure as hell don't, we sure as hell don't. So the commercially avaliable retail price IS less then $50. Just because the suggested retail price is $50 or more it doen't mean that it will ever be sold for that amount.

That's my point on the price. So yes.. it meets the price rule... yes it meets the 4 magnet rule... But does it meet the armature rule? My concern is that the arm shaft does not extend past the endbell like the rules call for. Plus it's not machine "stepped" at the end...

The Reedy Quad Magnet is NOT ROAR legal and will never be without major revisions.....

First, they are Hemi wound.....ROAR rules require Mabuchi/Cross Wrapped wound arms for Non-Oval....

Second, the Armature shaft does not extend .125 past the endbell with a taper.....

So until Reedy fixes these two issues....the motor won't be legal and from what I am told, Reedy has NO intentions of updating the motor....

The whole Retail price thing is a sham....all Reedy needs to do is just change the price on their website and packaging....

Retail price doesn't mean jack. It's the brain child of some moron at the company that comes up with some outragious price to make you think you are getting a deal. Do you think anyone with half a brain would pay $800 for a new Tmaxx at their LHS? I would just buy the motor and run it. If someone complains about the rule of it being over $50, then take the packaging it came in, mark out the retail, and put $50 on the lable. The rule is in place to discurage people from going out and buying $80 hand tuned special 19t specs from the smaller companies. Just my 1 1/2 cents.

I just received my issue of "Rev-up"from ROAR, they have just made 2 revisions to the current rule book. The first rule change deals with glow powered engines (I'm not sure what exactly changed with that rule), and the 2nd rule change is for 19T motors. Its almost word for word the same as the old 19T motor rule, but does now say both 2 and 4 magnet cans are legal. This clearly paves the way for the new reedy motor and of course any other 4 mag motors. Other good news is that ROAR has adopted Brushless rules as well! Thats a huge step in my opinion towards the future of brushless!

I have just bought me a couple of Reedy Quad Mag to race in our Championship, but now a did find out that the motor are Hemi-wound, and therefore are not ROAR legal.

Is this correct ?

What other 19T motor should I buy to get a good performing motor for touring superstock, and it must be ROAR legal ?

any suggestions ?

Silver can, thats the one!

I got this motor from someone for $9 bucks and it was basically new. I ran this and had the horsepower that I was missing and I am running 766s. Can't wait to try the 767s. Plus, the motor doesn't burn up like my Quad Mag!

At this moment, the only ROAR legal for Non-oval 19t is the chameleon 2 19t.....make sure yer getting the new crosswrapped version.....

Reedy has no plans to make their 19t ROAR legal....not sure about the peak/orion 19t....
