Hi, there ws this wire to connect to pc for calibration, settings et al but recently it was replaced by this Bluetooth dongle- more convenient. Try to contact Per of AE.

I sent an email to Per a few months back to see if I could obtain the bluetooth dongle, but got no reply. Have you had contact recently?

Thanks,
Alex

I haven't contacted him recently. Reason is maybe I don not need anything from him yet. The speedos I have are still kicking and feels like new. HA.

Seriously, try to email him back, again. It takes a couple of rounds before he acknowledges it.

Cheers.

The connecter at the USB end is a USB-Serial converter, so it isn't straight through.
The cable you'll need (generic and ends in bare wires) is a TTL-232R-5V-WE

Thanks for the reply with the info on the USB serial interface cable. Had figured it needed to be that way. The good news is, I grabbed the old laptop I was using for programming ESC's and what did I see in the bottom of the bag, the cable. I had looked before, but did not see it had snuck under a fold in the divider, so I am back in business.

Now for some settings to start with. I am running both 1/12 Mod with a 4.0t Reedy sonic, and Mod TC with usually a 5.0, although I usually play with anything from 4.5 to 5.5. Unfortunately we run on a temporary track, so time to test is minimal. Anyone have any settings they find work well for either of those classes? I had heard brakes were not very good with these ESC's, but could be just finding the correct frequency will help. Large carpet layout, fairly technical, but still has a 100' straight that has a 180 at the end. I will look at petit RC to see if there are any setting posted as well. I suspect that since these are not being run by many that are not too many set-ups available, so any input from those still running would be helpful. I am pretty sure I am on the latest firmware. I will check after work today.

Thanks,
Alex

I've listed the type of cable above, then I cut up old sensor cables and make the following;

I've found the BD to be super smooth.
We have a few blinky drivers in the UK that have gone back to it as they like the way it feels.

Only reason I've currently stopped using it is that in open Mod it was always close to shutting down (or did shutdown) due to heat.

Anything up to 10.5 boosted it doesn't even require a fan.

Heard from the man himself that Advanced Electronics will be rolling out new firmware for our Black Diamond speedos.
