Default What a difference a week makes!

Hi all,

Just wanted to update you on my experience with the CH + new front-end. If you're following the thread you'll remember that my first time out with the car was not very good. I made several setup changes based on feedback from Jason and others on here (many THANKS!) and raced again on Sunday eve.

Right away things were really improved...the car was very easy to drive, although a little "pushy" and really smooth and quick through the corners. I set the second fastest qualifying time (only a few seconds off TQ) in the second qualy during which the carbon stay that holds the outboard part of the damper tube broke clean off . I'm not sure how it happened but I suspect it was damaged last week in the carnage that was my first outing with the car! I decided to run it with only the right-side damper tube and body post in the main and the car was ALMOST as good anyway. I spent most of the main in 2nd and was catching 1st most of the race then had serious brain-fade and made a bunch of mistakes which put me into 3rd at the end. I should say I was also down on power relative to a few of the fastest guys so between that and the fact that the car was broken I think the result was very positive!

I can hardly wait to get it repaired and run a full race night with no issues . I'm really liking this car and I'm confident that it'll be REALLY good once I get through the "teething pains". I think I'm going to move back toward Jason's original setup to get a bit more "edge" back into the car but overall it feels really, really good!

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share the progress I've made with this car (plus get the thread back on page 1 where it belongs ).

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the feedback buddy. Let me know how it goes. If you need any help with the setup to get it where you want it let me know.

the 590-593 parts are aluminum and at the top of the page, while the 562,905 are plastic equivalents about half way down.

i realize the ball stud is english thread, but doesn't the silva shock have metric thread? i thought it looked like a 3mm ? oops, i think i answered my own question, the 562 is plastic so it fits the metric thread without issue

Ahhh, good to hear my local carpet track is racing again this weekend. Hopefully going to get out again to get more time on the new front end. Too much fun

Hey Jason...not to be a pain but have you made any progress on your setup guide for the new front-end that you mentioned last week?

I'm really interested to learn more about how this thing is supposed to work...especially what changes one would make under what conditions, etc.

Cheers,
Mike
