Default Need my tc5 a little faster! help! need ideas!

I have a tc5 with novak gtb and 13.5 ballistic motor. Foam tires. (about 50mm not much left) New ones will be 60mm. Carpet track.

This is the best I have gotten it.

I have tried numerous gear combos. Now I have a 112 spur and 51 pinion. Thats all that will fit! Moved the motor timing + 2 notches. Motor is under 100 degrees.

I can run under 4 sec. lap time. Not consistent though. 4.2 consistently. I want to be a little faster so I can do under 4 sec. consistently.

My new foams are going to be 60mm. Bigger than 50mm now so will I loose some speed? Any gearing ideas? I have tried the gearing creators and rollout but just don't get it. I just want a little more speed!

Anything helpful is really appreciated!!!!!! PM Thanks.

Sorry but by 4sec consistency, are you saying that over a 5min run your consistency is 4 seconds? If you want to be faster, motor speed will have nothing to do with being more consistent. Being consistent lap by lap will improve your run. If you can get down to a overall consistency of .1 or .2 seconds over 5 mins that will help . . . .

4 min races. It is speed! Traffic is a big part of it too. I run consistently just under 4.2 sec. a lap. I hit 3.975 and 3.985 once each after I advanced my motor timing making the car go faster. Before that I couldn't get below 4.0.

I do believe when I put the larger wheels on I will lose speed, correct?

I don't have anymore room for a bigger pinion or spur. This is the fastest combination I could get 112/51. 64 pitch. Motor is not going over 100 degrees. It seems like I am missing something!

i agree, get rid of the gtb and get a current esc like the RS. you'll be happy again.

4 seconds laps, you running oval? bigger tires would be like adding a bigger pinion. So as long as it is not over-geared it would be faster.

Oval with 70 ft straights. I thought the bigger wheels would slow it down! I will see what happens. As far as over gearing the 112/51 is the fastest I have found and it is the most that will fit. If I use smaller pinions it slows the car down. If I go smaller with the spur and bigger pinion it slows it down!

Can anyone tell me more info on that tekin rs? It will give me more speed?

Thanks for the posts too!

Thats what they were racing around here when I got into it. Roadcourse would be great but it's always been an oval track.
Pan cars are dying out! I like my TC5!

They work well. It's fun.
