got this from a forum (can't remember which?) for axle diffs about 3-4 months ago.
i have CRC diffs and this works on other diffs also. have done AE diffs this way.
1. put your flanged axle bearing in your diff hub (standard)
2. install a axle washer next (keeps inner & outer races of 2 bearings from making contact)
3. install a non flanged axle bearing
4. install the bevel washer with cone point out (you want the washer to rest on the outer race of the bearing)
5. install nut
this procedure has made my diff adjust side bearings last 3-4 times longer, doesn't go instantly rough from a hard hit, and is smooooth.
