whats it worth? tamyia f103

i have a chance to buy a kit tamyia f103 still in the box, but i can not find them on towerhobbies, or stormerhobbies, and only used ones made rtr on ebay. most of the info i found was on the f103 "gt". and it is not, + it is not the 15 year tribue car. plan jane model car.

it is sealed and new.

f.y.i.

i am planing on building it but will not end up using it that much ..just think they are pretty cool scalers. just wanted to state that i am not going to be collecting it.

Well it would be helpful to know which kit it is, Tamiya have been selling F-103's for 15 yrs, with lots of different body sets and upgrades.

The HK shops have been selling the 103RM kit for around $120. this is a base kit with no special features.
The kits are becoming difficult to find, though parts are still available if you search around.

i didn't mean to be smart#$%. but the box is just plain cardboard brown with black writing, even i had to as "is that 103f kit the indy open wheel car? " no pictures.

i am sure it is a new model from the last 1-2 year production, it is from a hobby shop but on the clearance rack.

Didn't mean to imply anything.

If it's a new full kit, it would probably fetch $100 or more depending on the body set included.

The F-103 is one of the most versatile on-road cars ever produced.
Carpet or asphalt, with the right tires and setup, it handles like a dream.

...no i re-read what i had wrote. -:(

it is said to be the indy body set is there different versions of them?

i kinda want a tamyia to build ...they are basicly the only brand out there that are still doing kits with out the more expensive upgrades like a associated "ft" kit.

i havge a tamyia f350,clodzilla 4 kit, and that is about it with that brand. but they were pre built by someone else too....

If it is one of the Indy cars which would be the Lola body sets those never really caught on as well as the F1 cars. Last time they were for sale they were around $50 blow out at Tower Hobbies. That would be the F103L chassis.

navyeoseabee 01-29-2010 08:44 AM

the kit is marked down to 40 bucks.i may jump on it mainly because i am in a mood to build a kit. thanks arick

InspGadgt 01-29-2010 11:21 AM

I would...that was one of the most unique F103 cars made and the Lola body is a work of art. I've got a couple at home myself.

I also have a 103L, the only difference is the chassis bodyset, and wheels.
So it is easy to turn into a standard 103 if need be.

Sounds like you have found a little gold mine of Tamiya retro cars.
What other On Road cars do they have ?
