Default Motor Armatures

hye,
just wondering what the green or in some cases black stuff is on motor armatures??? what does it do? and does it make the motor better or worse or nething if you take it off???

i have a wide variety of motors and noticed some have it and some dont....... just curious,

Possibly epoxy? Some arms will have epoxy on the windings to balance the arm.

My first guess would have been epoxy also. But if you say it may be sprayed on, it is difficult to tell without a photo.

If the manufacturer put it there. Best bet would be to leave it there. The arms are balanced if you remove or tamper with them at all you will throw them out of balance. Plus it ilegal to modify some armatures depending on the ruls you run.

Not sure, but I always thought its the same is the "insulation" around the stack. This is there to keep it from cutting through the windings. Some companies even will skim the outside of the webs to remove this from the area where its not needed.

Pls there is no way to wind a Mabuchi/Johnson motor cause the can is diff and the armature lenght is diff and the armture stack is also diff. If you can wind them pls post a picture on the net.
