Cross used to make a really nice F103 based F1 car. I'm not sure if they still do or not.

They made one, but either it was a limited run, or just didn't sell enough to make a profit. TRG makes great aftermarke parts for the 103. I have a number of things on my car from TRG.

To compete again the f103 have you tryed the 3racing f109 ?

i have one and most of the part use the same as f103.

i'll actually try to part out my 3racing f109 to complete the TRG f109.

I have the 3r 109 (it was my first f1), and was disappointed that I could not get it to work on med. grip asphalt.

The car uses a lot of 103 parts, but its about 1/2 inch longer.

I bought a 15th anniversary 103 kit, and it seems to work a lot better.

Our guys are finding the F104 rubber tires to work very well on low grip asphalt so the ones running the 3Racing F1-09 have converted to running them. Other than the rims and tires all that is needed for the conversion is a few dollars worth of front end parts. Might want to give that a try if you are having grip issues.

My 103 is built much like the 15th anni one and I am having grip issues...then again my Tamiya B tires are quite old and need to be replaced.

Funny bsmooth, because i'm having the same problem with my 3racing f109.

on carpet perfect, but on asphalt the rear is all over the place and have to much overstreering. couldnt figure out how to set it up.

Next thing i wanted to try is to put some RIDE rubber tire with the f103 wheel.

Will see if with the TRG 109 kit the car handle better.

I don't own any F1 car. But had oportunity to run carpet meetings with F103 which ran well. At my first outdoor race I had oportunity to run 3racing f109 and I added quite a lot of lead to the rear - about 130g (50g lead weights in the rear on sides and 30g lead strip behind motor on motor mount). When I braked too hard it wanted to spin, other than that it felt very confident especially at the end of the straight in high speed corner. I've got even onboard cam vid on youtube from that race.

I will try the weight on the rear . My f109 have issue specialy at the end of the straight, even without drag brake the car spin on the corner...

Thats an incredible amount of weight. Thats the same as adding a 1s, hardcase lipo battery!

I'm glad you found a way to get some rear grip, but something is terribly wrong with the design if that's the only way to make the car work.

I'm in the process of trying to run the car with the battery mounted across the chassis (103 style). There's about 15mm gap left, so I will be able to slide the battery fore or aft.

We'll see how it works.

Well I might should said that in the morning it rained and whole day wasn't extremely hot, so we lacked traction. It might work well when traction is better, I just didn't have opportunity to run it in different conditions or with different tyres. I also used Jack the gripper on rear tyres along with warmers to get some edge.

Is there a reason why you mounted the battery along the centerline vs. across the chassis?
