For those of you that didn't know and are coming bring your laptop with a wireless internet card. The track has wireless internet as the practice times are going to be posted straight to J-lap. That also means that there will be some upto the minute updates. If you don't believe me look at the Ask Mike Blackstock thread. See everyone there.
yesterday was so much fun. we have such a great group of guys and gal(s) running the gate. i think i'm actually as excited to be around that much racing, as i am to be doing the racing. no lie.
the halloween race was great, and this time we have a much better facility, a stocked hobby shop, near real time internet updates, and the racing will be nonstop for 5 days. boy, am i gonna have the monday blues next week.
good luck with travel and racing for everyone looking to come up from afar looking to lay it down.
i tried to get them to set up a web cam so us slugs could see all the good pics but thay said it was to busy to do this time around but thay liked the idea
I will see what I can do about a webcam when I get there. No promises but you never know. I don't have the funding to set up a live video stream but it's possible that we could do a snapshot that updates every 10 seconds or something.

The only real problem for me is bandwidth; if a webcam is sending a 20K JPG (which would be like 400x300) every 10 seconds along with a 15K advertisement banner, that's going to be 35K x 6 = 210KB per minute per user who is watching it. So if we had 100 people around the world watching it, it would be consuming 21,000KB (21MB) of bandwidth per minute.
On the one hand, I'd be stoked if we had 100 people watching it. On the other hand, there's a very large possibility that we'd end up with more than 100 people! We tried this for the PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Associated) World Championships, a live webcast where 100-or-so viewers were expected. When the time came, thousands of people came out of nowhere and brought the server to its knees. I'd hate to see that happen!
However, I'm also a sucker for punishment, so I might give it a shot. Maybe at some of these events next year we could find a company that would be willing to sponsor such a webcam.

I know I'd watch a webcam if it was setup. This seems to be a HUGE untapped market that I'm sure some sponser is willing to pay for.
