It looks a little too like the BMI ETC3 chassis.

Looks identical to the already successful BMI chassis with a battery configuration that no one will want to run. Yeah, it looks like a lot of work has been put into it... by Jason of BMI.

Nice idea, too bad it is only a slight variation of a theme.

And most of Jason's work and Warpspeed's work was done by AE before that.

Looks like an interesting design.

That concept has been already done, its somewhere in the first 200 pages of the TC3 thread.

Though, nice to see a carbon Fiber version with a top deck, almost like BMI's!!

You get an A for effort!! Keeep up the good work!

Peace and Happy Racing!

Default CAD System

Manfredo-The CAD drawing system were using is Inventor 5.3

Apex Speed : Thanks for the nice comments!!!

Aslo to note were using a proven chassis desgin "similar" not exactly to BMI, but the battery configuration is different, motor mount is different and the electronics is layed out different.

Thanks to all for the great comments and support.:

just wait till associated comes out with the new tub chassis that they were using at Snowbirds. it comes with the batteries moved over and a beefed up motor mount to keep the chassis from tweaking when it gets hot. they only had a few at the birds but the team drivers said they made all the difference.

So is this going to be another running change or will that be the "TC4" all the AE heads have been looking for.

It is a very good idea and of course it has been realised before. I'm sure it would work awesome as well as any other balanced chassis (Kyosho Kx1, Pro 3, I know those cars had many other issues, and many saddle pack style cars). However, the issue is how many people want to run a battery configuration this way? Who knows, maybe no one will mind running their packs separated like that.

My other concern is the very close resemblance to the BMI chassis. If I were Jason @ BMI I would be very interested in keeping my eye on this project.

Good luck!
Ben

Just thought the designer should get in his 2 cents worth. For those of you who think this is a BMI knock off your wrong. I didn't even see a BMI chassis until this project was very well developed. When you look at the TC3 chassis there are a number of constraints that you are forced to deal with like mounting points for the upper chassis. That is really the only thing that is similar to BMI. If you look closely you will see many other differences besides the battery placement. All the electronics have been placed to optimize the static weight balance and lower the mass moment of inertia in pitch, roll and yaw. This will improve chassis response. The motor mount retains the standard TC3 hardware which is one feature of the TC3 I really like and did not want to sacrifice.

I will be building this chassis shortly so I will keep the website updated for those who are interested.

That's my 2 cents.
