Well, it was the maiden voyage for my Mi3 yesterday, but I chose to just get a few practice sessions instead of racing with it. Out of the box, it worked REALLY well, with just a bit of hard push entering fast corners (like the end of a sweeper or carousel). I'm running a front diff until I can find a HD one-way for the front, but it worked really well as-is. Gotta say, after my train wreck in 1/12th scale yesterday, I'm looking forward to racing this car a LOT.

So far, so good, even though I was about 85g light with a LiPo in it. Needed a LOT more weight than I had space for... but tungsten pinewood derby weights work great so far.

Heheh yeah, good point. Not enough testing time with the new car, and the rear spoiler IS huge.

Trans Am is just so derned fun, and I'm intellectually capable of managing 3 cars at one time, so this one sat on the bench Sunday. It won't again, though.

ApexSpeed: that battery strap your using...is that the standard Mi3 battery strap U2985, with the little raised middle section removed?

I wanted to use the strap for my lipo too, but didn't know if I could remove that raised section.

Oh, and can I get a look at the car without the body on. I'd like to get a better look at the strap mounted up.

the MI3 strap works great its easy to take out the raised section just takes a few seconds to move it where it need to go and it just slides out , justremember to add 3mm worth of shimd on the bottom of the post for the Core Rc pack.

The NiMh center was yanked out (it's easy to remove, just flex the strap a bit and twist) and the strap was put bacl on when I realized how underweight the car was with a LiPo. I actually had a 3600 in there before, but it's lighter than the 4800, so I stuffed the Platinum in.

The battery is taped in, then the strap to keep it from moving around at all. I used 1mm washers under the posts to get a snug fit, but with the tape, it's not crucial to have it fit so tight.

The weights are tungsten pinewood derby weights, taped to the side and the front of the pack. The car is still a hair under 1500g, so it needs more. I don't particularly like the taped on weights, so I'm considering designing a brass tray for LiPos to fit into the slots of the Mi3 (pops is a machinist ).
