Don, thats a good way to describe the feeling of driving the E.C compared to the original Mi2, the E.C feels like your not trying, like driving 75%..

Thats how a good race car should feel, its like you could drive it with your eyes closed ( now I suggest you don't try this with your beloved new car).

I felt the Mi2 was fast, but knife edge..1 round it was the quickest on track, next round disasterous..
I get the feeling the Mi2E.C has a broader sweet spot...it surely felt more consistent all day...

Hi Don, What's your opinion on the new shocks? Are they "better" than the Tamiyas? Sounds like you're liking the EC Hope to see you and Jon soon

Default Mi2 EC

New car report....

I didn't quite get the new car ready to race for Sunday morning so I started out the day with the old car. After having motor and battery issues for both qualifiers I got the EC ready for the B main. The few laps I did get with the old car were in the 13.8 & 13.9's/ TQ's best lap was a 13.5. The new car promply went out first time on the track, with the full kit/Teemu setup from the back page, and did laps 13.3, 13.3, 13.3.... It felt a little lazy out of the corner but I think I was one tooth over-geared. Other than that the car built great and drove great. Love the new shocks and the new CVD's. Its gonna be a good year!!

They're on par with Tamiyas except for the adjuster ring. There's no o-ring in it, making it highly likely that it'll screw itself out of adjustment. That, IMO, should have been done better. It can be solved by taking the adjuster ring from a tamiya shock, which has the o-ring.

The shock itself is very smooth and dosen't leak. Easy to built and bleed. It's basically a tamiya clone, which is a good thing

Got my EC last week and built it over the weekend... otherwise everything went smoothly, but the laysaft pulley was kinda burned during machining so that one of the fences wouldn't stay on and one of the pivot balls was actually missing the ball part... the latter was no biggie, since I had plenty laying around, but the pulley got me worried for a while. Luckily, it was the side next to the spur, so I just glued the fence on somehow and fixed it so that it can't fall off.
Waiting eagerly to run the car this weekend... the only thing that made me wonder was the fact that there's no way to change the rear toe on the EC I appreciate simple things that work, but this I didn't expect

Default Novak Race.....

I raced my EC US Foam spec this weekend at the Novak race and for it being the first time with the car I am extremely impressed with the car and how well it works. With only a short amount of time with the car I can say its going to be a really great car. The amount of steering and corner speed the car was able to have this weekend under extreme bite conditions with out getting up on two wheels was great. Im looking forward to getting more time with this car. I wanted to thank PW and Jim N. for all the help this weekend, I know that Jim and I both had really good cars in stock but just needed a little more luck and some instant driver . We were able to run A-main lap times but just couldnt get a run together. Goetz was fast with his hand built car but said he was really impressed with the kit car but needed more time on it. Paul's car looked good in Mod and 19t Weylin's car got better as the weekend went on. I wonder what might have happened if we all would have had more then just this week on the car. So to all the guys waiting for the kit its well worth the wait and it looks like they will be here soon.

Kevin,
I agree about the driver, where can we buy the "can of driver"? Nobody would sell it to me

I just wanted that I thought that the team performed really well with the limited amount of time we had with the car. Everyone was trying different things and we leaned a lot about the car for the future.

Congrats to Seaball for the great runs.

To Paul, Chris, Weylin, Kevin, and John, thanks for all your help this past weekend. I am really excited about the upcoming year with the new EC.

later
Jim

Tamiya shocks come with a plastic shock collar last time I looked.

I agree the gold collars are too loose for my liking, would have preferred they have an oring inside as previous versions had.

My team mate ran the standard gold collars and reported no problems with adjustments changing..

I ran some original Mission collars to be safe. (shorter flange than mi2 ones, with an o-ring inside).
