The only thing we really ran out here was the 2.0 chassis. It is very forgiving. But I think with the right setup, the stiffer BMI chassis will be much faster.

Surely adjustments are constant between car manufacturers? I mean, if I put harder springs on the back of my Mi2, then shouldn't this be the same as putting harder springs on the back of an Xray, Yokomo or whatever

Castor is one adjustment that no-one seems to agree on. You read that running less castor increases turn-in, then you read somewhere else that it increases corner-exit steering - how can both be right??

You mentioned that no one can tell you what an adjustment does - in that case, if your car isn't working too well, how do you know where to start making adjustments?, and just as important, how do you which way to make those adjustments?

And if the change "felt" the same (or the laptimes are no different) then what did it do??

I am a very experienced off roader (but never too good at setups), but a newbie when it comes to touring cars, and frankly, I'm baffled

At least one of the good points of forums like these is that there is advice available when you are stuck, and of course you can just copy someone's entire setup (which I'll be doing once I get some Tamiya shocks )
I agree with Jack on this. You can really do yourself a favor, get a copy of XXXmain Chassis Setup Guide(part# B001). This book goes a long way in explaining what effect changes have on the cars. I even use the guide for off-road though it's written for sedan racing.

If you really want to get into race car dynamics, get a copy of Tune to Win by Carroll Smith. Picked up my last copy at Barnes and Noble (wore out my first copy so I donated it to a friend). It is written in very understandable terms and will help you to understand what the chassis is doing to the tire. Drive to Win is pretty useful too. Don't bother with Engineer to Win and Prepare to Win, they don't really apply to our cars.

AdrianM

I was looking at some results form Florida and saw a Masters stock class that runs 6 minutes. What is this class and is it popular?

Thanks

I agree with Jack.Tune to win is a good Race Engineering book, although now a little dated it does describe allot of geometry effects in laymens terms.

You also have to remember that most of it is referring to RWD sportscars, 4wd introduces different Dynamics. But it is a good source to understand changes in Roll Centres / geometry etc etc.

kid TT....Tamiya uses a slightly different pitch. You can use any other brand as long as the spur and pinion pitch match.

They go for $110 for the chassis and top deck kit. You can go to the website to get the phone number and give Jason a call or send him an Email.

What can we expect on the new version of the mission? Lower CG? Battery tray similar to the new Yokomo system? Any info would be helpful. I am holding out for the new Schumacher and would appreciate any info at all as to what changes or improvements will be added to the new car. Also any word on when we can expect to see the new 4wheel drive off roader here in the states? Thanks
