Im selling a greatly hopped up Axis 2 with lots of spares if anyone is interested. Based in Australia and willing to post. I will probably put up on Ebay with a buynow option if anyone is interested.

Hey guys...

I just got a SST'99 Pro and was wondering what would be a good gear ratio for it on a medium sized carpet track...

I am running the 64 pitch gear adapter so if you could or I will do the conversion...

also just to confirm my thoughts the SST'99 has a 2.00 internal transmission??

Thanks!
John

Tigeryan: Stock or mod? 2.0 is right.

TigeRyan: Theres not much converting to do. The formula stays the same whether its 64 or 48 pitch. Spur divided by Pinion times the internal drive ration. Which is 2.0 for the '99pro.

Last time I gave gear advise online the guy burned up his motor and sent me a nasty email.

Ask you local fast guy what he is running. Figure out his final drive ratio and then figure out the spur and pinion you need to get the same ratio.

I ran my pre-production Mission today on carpet with Stock, 19T and Mods. Here are some observations:

I ran yellow springs all around with 80wt/2holes inner hole on lower a arm, shocks leaned all the way down, upper hole on upper a-arm mount, |In line hubs, front and rear diffs, 1deg camber all around, 10 deg caster, 0 front toe, 2 deg rear toe, Pit 24R's front and rear with Echo Red inserts.

Here are some observations:

1. Ton-O-Steering. It feels like my RC12L3. Harder front tires will reduce this but I love cars that have tons of steering.

2. Lots of Cornerspeed. If I set up the corners right the car would whip right around.

3. Very strong acceleration out of corners. It was very nice to pull away from some of the more dangerous people I was practicing with today.

4. While I was running I overheard some one say "Hey is that Joe Freitas?" (Fastest Stock onroad driver in the State) the Reply was, "nope, thats Adrian" Followed by, "Wow".

The Mission seems like a very good car. But don't take my word for it...some of you will find out for yourselves next week!

Adrian, Having run my car last weekend i would agree with all your coments.

I found that the car was giving me more confidence to just push it harder round the track. Felt very stable and hence easy to drive fast.

Can someone please advise me what are the advantages & disadvanges of having big capacitor (i.e. -6000uf or above) for a ESC? I've noticed most of the Japanese top racers like to install them.
My personal experience of having a bigger capacitor (8600uf) for my GM-V12XC is that I will shorter run time. Is this normal?
Is it necessary to run a big capacitor anyway??

Isompi ei ole aina parempi...

This has been discussed so many times here already on other topics. Shortly:
1. Capacitor doesn't do anything to max power.
2. Capacitor may improve your esc's efficiency.
3. Size doesn't matter.

Are you sure about that? I was once told the bigger the better (within reason of course). That larger caps help the ESC run cooler and, as you said, more efficient.

I just had the best race weekend in my last 2 years of racing. I am usually a top of the B-Main driver at big races. I made the A in Stock(10th) and 19T spec mod(7th) and finished 6th in Stock and 4th in 19T. I was actually in the lead in 19T for a few laps until I realized where I was and got the shakes. I was 3rd in stock until the last lap when I hit a board. Everyone that finished ahead of me were factory drivers (most of them 100%).

Adrian- Congrats. It sure is a good feeling when everything is working right and you run the race you've been waiting so long to run. Did you try out anyting new with the mission? Can you run the same set up on it that you ran on the A2? Just trying to see if Dominic F. and Pat McCarson are going to be on fire (as usual) or if they will be hurting a bit while trying to find the set up. I can't have my boy's frustrated this saturday .......but it wouldn't hurt

I ran PW's setup from the 2000 Turkey Shoot with a few changes:

Seems like all SST's even the A2 and Mission work better with the shock in the inside hole on the lower a arm. PW ran the out side hole with yellow springs and 80wt 2 holes laid all the way down on his A2 in 2000, I ran the same on the inside hole with the Mission.

I ran stock Mission swaybars.

Pit 24R's with Echo Red J4430M inserts all around. PW ran Pit 30's and 25's with Yok firms. Next time I will try 27R's in the front to free the car up a bit.

Dominic and Pat are way better driver than me so they should be able to pick up another lap or drop some serious time off the same # of laps.

FYI, I almost didn't get lapped by former Schuie, now 100% AE driver JR Mitch in the stock A-Final. I let him by on the last lap because he was the leader as we entered a short straigt leading to a sweeper. I figured he was way faster than me so when he was clear of me I nailed the throttle and was supriesed as hell when I shot right past him and lead him through the sweeper. I again went wide at the end of the sweeper to let him past on the hairpin and he was gone (he drives better line than I do). This confirms PW's opinion that the Mission can outrun TC3's out of corners (that was the only place TC3's had an advantage over the A2). I believe this because if I can out accellerate a Factory AE driver with the crap batteries and motors I have it has to mean something.

Congrats Adrian. I know what you mean about the "shakes". Bad thing is, they don't go away until the race is almost over!
