P-Dub...Thanks. Sorry that I didn't get to fax that set up over to you today. Work was too much after a three day weekend. I'm working on an asphalt set up this weekend. I liked the set up that Rich and I ran but I I have something that I want to try. I'll keep you informed on all changes.

Here's a link to the set up that I ran this weekend on carpet with rubber tire's.

Hey Shoe....Congratulations on your new Mi2!!!

The setup will vary slightly from your Mission and I would recommend starting with some of these basics:

Front:
3 hole/45wt
Blue spring
Tower/middle hole
Camber/Inside lower
Swaybar/Stock
Toe/0deg
Arm/outer hole

Rear:
3 hole/45wt
Blue spring
Tower/2nd hole in
Camber/middle lower
Toe/1.5deg
Arm/2nd hole from outside
Swaybar/Stock

Remember this is just a basic setup to start with

Shoe, are you sure you want to pit with Team Daytona?! lol We can be brutal, but you're more than welcome. P-Dub's setup should be a good place to start, but just ask and we'll help set your ride up.

PW- I'm going to try the spool out again on Saturday. I'm sticking with it to test for the Reedy race. The set up might end up being slightly different from what we'll run at the Tamiya track but any practice I can get with it will only help me. Since there's no motor limit this year what winds do you think we should run?? 8x2 or 9x2

Default Motor break in

G'day from a fellow aussie mission owner,
I'm new to the sport and have read all the posts in this section over the last few weeks and have gained some valuable knowledge.
I'm still learning to drive my car, but have got to the stage where I'm starting to chase some more speed from the car.
I have started to stiffen the car up (after eliminating understeer) and have a set up that I can drive fairly easily, but my car is still down on speed (I know some may be in the lines I'm taking)
I've just started to lube the motor brushes and add com drops to help the motor, I've just soaked the belts in wd40 and removed the sheilds from the wheel and diff bearings, but I feel my motor may be lacking speed.
I run in 540 pro at boronia, which uses a stock johnson silver can motor, I have just purchased a new motor and wanted to know about breaking it in, I have heard about breaking it in, in water and was after some info about doing this, if someone could either give me step by step details or give me a link to a website that may give me details.

Thanks for all the helpful advice in all the previous posts and thanks in advance for any help about breaking the motor in.

Mick

Ratter,

Hi, Im a old racer all my moters are just as fast and do just as good as the fastest guy on the track. I just have to drive concistant laps. I dont thank motors that win races are that much better cause on time into the wall or a slip of the tires makes every one else even. cause 200 rpms is not anough to be seen. and even if every thang is great your car still has to be set up right. know matter how fast we are. if your laps are with in 5/10 of a second of each and every on then yes try fixen the motor if not lift your body! lol

Default break in

the trick with sealed can motors is to break them in using low vols <3 volts for a long time 25-30 mins this is cause they have very hard brushes that need to be bedded to get max performance. remember to keep the motor lubed while doing this to. gearing is crucial in 540 class so find out what the local guns are using and start there.

hope this helps

Gary
