holycow,, your problem is caused by the king pins unscrewing from the steering hubs, this can occur with old/or stripped hubs as the steering action can slowly unscrew the pins, causing the arm to move further away from the hub, unitl it rubs on the inside of the rim.

I suggest you replace the hubs, or re thread the hubs by dabbing some C.A glue into the threads, and threading an old kingpin in and out a few times to create a new tight thread...

It has happened to me once before, easily fixed

I dont have any threads on my hubs. Are you referring to the "hub carriers"?

I am getting ready to move onto carpet with my Mission. I had one before, but never got a chance to set it up well for the fuzz. I need some starting points for 19t foam tires and rubbers...on a pretty tight 30x70 track with lots of quick 180s. What all will I need..oneway? etc....I have the carpet deck and springs...what else?

email paul@schuamcherusa.net and ask for a foam setup. You will get a detailed PDF setup sheet with everything you need to know.

Be sure to do evertything on it EXACTLY as it is noted first, then start making changes. We get calls all the time saying our setups dont work only to find out the racer isn't doing half of what's on the setup sheet (too lazy to change oil, wrong springs...)

I got to see (and hold) Mike Mcmahon's prototype last weekend at the Cleveland race... I thought it had a lot of the Missions short falls taken care of. But I didnt think it was a lot stiffer than a Mission with a carpet top deck. Are there plans for a 3mm chassis and stiffer top deck?

Ottoman....Please keep in mind that the car you saw at the Halloween Race has already been updated close to 40-50%. The assembly of the new diff housings/top-plate etc have been refined to address some of these issues. We also will offer a carpet top-deck for high-bite carpet if needed....Please refer to pic below

McMahon's proto was designed to test the suspension and weight distribution of the new car.

Diffrences between Mission and McMahon's car:

-new suspension arms
-new hub carriers
-new caster blocks
-new chassis
-new top deck
-new flipped drive train
-new shock towers
-new upper bulkheads

The final proto shown below has all of ther latest chassis and drivetrain changes

Diffrences between McMahon's car and Final Proto:

-new revised chassis
-new revised top deck
-new revised flipped drive train
-new revised shock towers
-new revised rear hub carriers
-new one piece diff halves that eliminate the upper bulkheads and lower diff holder (stiffer, better diff output bearing alignment)
-new steering bell cranks
-new layshaft mounts
-new new motor mount
-new revised belt tensions (looser rear belt)

McMahon and Andrew Cartwright will have the new cars at Cleveland.

Adrian,

I spoke with McMahon and he likes his proto much better than the Mission. Looks like the new car is promising. Can't wait to see it at Cleveland....

Bagofskill - The pin issue with the plastic pulleys was resolved about 2 months after the original release of the Mission (2 years ago). They put more material around the pin in the pulley and changed the material slightly. If you crash a lot it will deform slightly but it will not strip out.

Darkseid - Based on YOUR suggestion the instructions in the Mi2 kit will address how the layshaft pulley flanges pop on. The problem with the Mission instructions was due to the line our CAD program put on the flange to represent the begining of the radius on the flange.

Adrian,
I didn't know that. I bought my car the week it was released, and the alloy pulley 2 months later.

Is there a likely realease date for Mi2? Is it still going to make Christmas, or sometime in the new year?
