Default Schumacher prototype

It looks like a new car is in the works. It will be released by the end of the year.

It's easier to say which bits are carried over from the mission. Diffs/mounts, driveshafts, belts, some steering bits. That's about it.

New chassis, arms, hubs, top links, bulkheads, mounts, transmission loyout.

The pic is of the latest prototype. There are a few parts that have yet to be finalized and a bit of testing yet to be done.

Everything is looking VERY good right now. The Euro team is heading for the Euro Champs tomorrow with 3 cars like the the one in the pic.

Default On a Sad Note

I dosent look like Teemu will be making it to the Euro's. He has been responding well to treatments and is in good spirits but he has not been cleared by his doctors to go to this race.

Its a shame as he has been really looking forward to it, he has beenrunning this car longer than anyone and of course he is our best wheel.

Yes I was Sorry to hear Teemu wouldnt make it for the event...he would have certainly shown the cars capabilities..Jeez I hope he is fully well and trackside again real soon....

I'm sure the 3 Euro Drivers will give a good showing.

Looks like the car will address all of the issues Drivers have reported with the Mission, weight distribution, and adjustablity of Roll center.

I like what I see, the future is soo bright, we have to wear sunglasses at night..

are we all happy with what we see?

post feedback guys.

My hopes are:
•The car remains as durable as current car.
•More adjustability of Roll centre hopefully 6-9 inner mountingpositions
(looks like it will have)
• better weight distribution (less weight needed to balance the car)
(looks like it will have)
•Threaded shocks included in Kit
•New bearings as included in the R12 (acer dual Polyamide)
•hopefully the Hubs have vairiable mounting positions for R/C and steering.

It will be interesting to see how they adjust rear Toe, whether it will be all done Inboard, or via optional Hubs, personally I would hope that parts be kept to a minimum for tuning the car, as we will now need optional castor blocks (ala tc3, losi etc)

man I'm excited!.

Hi Gavin!!

I agree with everything you said. I would like to add that I see no resaon for having inboard toe adjustments. Wheelbase spacers on the hingepins are ok, but I have yet to see a time where inboard toe adjustment was better than just changing the wheelbase spacers and readjusting outboard toe.

Hey, what happened to Teemu? I knew he wasn't racing, but I didn't realize he got hurt. Did he get hurt on a motorcycle?

I second that bearing request. Like PW- the car is very free witht he stock cheapo bearings cleaned and lightly lubed, but durability and quality is an issue with me- I'm not rich! I want good bearings that will last.

I have one EXTREMELY important request... make the car rigid enough to be competitive on carpet foam!!! And don't give me that Dave Vera and PW and the boys made it work crap.. they worked their arses off trying to get the car to work in a high traction situation. Even if the car isn't rigid enough out of the kit, give it the capability of one or two options to get it there.

PW- have they tried putting a delrin strip on the outside battery side lip of the chassis to not only help stiffen the chassis, but retain the batteries in a serious collision? What about an "H"-shaped aluminum center brace right behind the steering uprights? That midway point with the holes for the steering uprights is a serious weak spot.

Well, that's all I have for now. I must disengage my brain again before someone finds out I actually have thought processes....

Answering questions:

•Rear toe in settings
Since there are no toe in links on this system inboard toe will set the wheel toe in. There will be diffrent suspension mounts avaiable to get diffrent amounts of rear toe. The MAY be diffrent hub carriers to get diffrent in board/out beard settings. This is why Associated guys use Losi hub carriers sometimes
•Bearings?
The R12 bearings will be the kind used in all of our kits. Please note that paying more for bearing gets you tighter tolerences and more free spinning bearings but ZERO increase in durability. The team has access to any bearings we want and we use regular Schumacher bearings.
•Stiffness?
We Americans are the only weirdos in the world that run foam on electric sedans. That said, there is a prototype here in the US specifically to do testing on foam tires. The car has to be designed to work in as many situations as possible. If we need parts to stiffen the production car we will offer them. THe U2488 Stiff top deck for the Mission was not planned. Schu US made a phone call and we had them 2 weeks later.
•Battery retention
Stay tuned.
•The car remains as durable as current car.
Thats the plan and we are testing now to ensure durability
•More adjustability of Roll centre hopefully 6-9 inner mountingpositions
We are testing this too. The car will have 4 to 6 holes for inner camber links. More than this is pretty much useless. There is a sweet spot for the camber link and going out side of this area nets no gains in traction or stability.
(looks like it will have)
• better weight distribution (less weight needed to balance the car)
This is an interesting area of testing. More details later.
•Threaded shocks included in Kit
Yup.
•New bearings as included in the R12 (acer dual Polyamide)
Yup.
•hopefully the Hubs have vairiable mounting positions for R/C and steering.
The front hub and caster blocks have one position the rear hubs will have 3

Thanks for your findings Adrian, i have spoken to my guy at the Factory and got some more details..

I am really excited, the issues with the current car have been addressed, and this thing will be a rocketship!

really happy with the weight distribution design...quite innovative.

Wow... looks good !!! Any thoughts on changing the shocks a little ? Like maybe threaded further down, so we can run other springs without spacer clips ?

Can't wait for the new machine......

That is a good point Spooky, Im not a big fan of the new extended collars, they limit adjustment of rideheight when using shorter springs..(ae)

I still have my orginal collars from the first threaded mission shocks..
