AE: With a stock motor 6.8 shouldn't be a problem depending on the track...I run as low as 6.5 on an original P2K on a long track.

Oh ya 6.5 for a p2k and p2k2 but for a monster do you think anything around 6.8 is a little low? Have you tried anything that low with a monster?

Thanks

Cool on a p2k I was running my gearing around the 6.2-6.5 area

but when I got a monster I was told to actually gear it close to 8.0 cause you really need to get the revs up....I thought the guy was crazy but it really worked and my car screamed it was great....I went from using a 26-27 tooth pinnion on a p2k to using a 22-23 tooth pinnion for the monster... oh ya that is 4 teeth I went down

With the 20 tooth puly its 1.8, with the 17 its 2.12.
On another note i cant understand why people in the US gear their cars so high (or low depending on which way you look at it) Its not uncommon in the UK for a 12 turn to be geared 5.8-6.0, are the tracks really small or something?

yes they are much smaller compared to european tracks. my local indoor track is 60 ft by 40ft and the out door is 100ft by 70ft

tony padilla won stock and dave vera i believe won 19 turn by a lap and he also took the mod class. both tony's car and daves car were the vanilla type. no i cant have these cause i'm not a sponsored guy parts on there cars! the florida state series has more than it's share of national level racers.. it may not be shaft driven or have trinity making a million purple parts for it..but it does win some races...
