Are the "old" mission diff able to be upgraded to the new "2003" diff, or do I have to buy the whole diff assembly? If so, what parts are needed? Thanks!

Yes they can be upgraded. You need thrust race, outdrives, spring washers/spacer and centre bearings.

rcdougie....To rebuild diff part by part is $61.95 minus diff balls, rings and gear or you can get a assembled pro-diff (all carbide) for $49.99 complete. The part # for complete diff is U2451(front) and U2452(rear).

PW, I did wonder about the costs as i was listing the bits needed!

Dotman, It doesn't really heed one as it spaces the origional moulded brace off the chassis.

I'm installing my new RW pullies in my diffs. Do I still need to run those black covers that say left and right on the diff halves since the RW pullies come with those rings for the belts? The black diff covers still seem to fit but do I need to use them?

dotman...Like MattW stated, you don't need one because the stock mount is still used.

wyd....The stock flanges are no longer needed with the RW pulleys. The RW flanges due have a radius edge and that edge should face in on the gear.

Well I just finished cleaning out my bearings and putting my diffs in with the RW pullies. Damn it is the freest belt car I have ever had. It spins easier than my XXX-S did. I can't believe how much smoother is spins. The RW pullies are lighter too. Can't wait to try it out again this weekend. I bet it will make a huge differance.
