Oasis....You said you were using my carpet setup, but you are racing on asphalt???

High-bite carpet is much different than high-bite asphalt. Some think you can compare the two, but itís just not the same type of bite. The stiffer springs at that race caused the car to chatter and slide. In this case, the softer springs solved this issue.

I always seem to be more comfortable with inboard toe on all surfaces so I like to leave that alone. At the same race, I found that as the bite came up with 0deg in-board toe the car began to over rotate and would not accelerate straight on exit. The in-board toe solved this issue and improved my lap-times. I do plan to try 0deg inboard toe one last time next week at the Snowbirds (Foam race)...lol

Oasis,
I don't think anyone runs the 17 tooth pulley unless you are on a tiny track. The 17 tooth makes the drivetrain spool up too quickly and doesn't allow your motor to rev high enough.

Sorry, forgot about the pulley....My car never feels as good with the 17-pulley and Axiom has described that feeling. However, one of my team drivers run the 17-pulley all the time and is always as fast or faster than me....

PW-Thanks for the replies

Yeah i was aware of the difference between carpet and asphalt. Ive driven on carpet once and it is pretty nuts. I was just interested why you did certain things and you answered my questions!

As for over rotating the diff I have exactly the same problem if my diff is just slightly gritty. When rebuilt the car is awesome. This track is very tight and i drive lock to lock so i thought I was just pressuring the diffs to much. As soon as they get a little dirty or gritty it over rotates out of a corner and doesnt want to straighten up. Will try your inboard settings.

Butter, since we're running foams in all classes this year, we'll have to figure roll out instead of just FDR. I don't run foams much, but I'm guessing somewhere around 22.5. I'm not looking at my car but I think that's about where I had it geared. If you want to print out a nice rollout chart for different tire sizes, go here.

Hey Mike....Last year I was running a 6.33 (20pulley) with around 2.25 tires. This was with SMH 3000 and I'm sure we will be using 3300's this year, so I'm not sure if that will change things.

Wow what a difference a week makes! This week the car was more than up to speed locally. I was able to run within 1 sec of my fastest time (total time not per lap time...lol) with my xxxs that I had worked with for over a year. The setup is still in its beginning stages but feel the car can be really fast here. Will be interested to see how t he car progresses! So far I am very excited.

Wanted to know when you guys are lowering the suspension mount and what handling feel are you looking for when you do that?

Jeff

Also forgot to ask this for my local hobby shop. Take Off 22's have proven to be the tire to have and right now they seem to be very hard to find. PW any info you can give on them?

Jeff

The XXX-S is a really good car. Its just has a different style, its more laid back. I switched to the mission because its more touchy, to where and when you need cornering and speed, its their. I was impressed when I saw the Graphite + car go, it really did handle good. I like the XXX-S in offroad (XXX-4), car is the fastest I have ever driven with a 9 turn mod. I broke a track record now me and my friend are battling for it.

Jeff- One thing to do is to switch your hub holes to the inner instead of outer (where the camber arm snaps on to the pivot ball, i forgot the name). It will make the car better, and you have more camber to adjust with too

Hey Jeff....CS 22 premounts have been out of stock for about a week now, but will be back in stock sometime this week. CS22 non-mounted tires have been in stock though.

the take off 22's were rocking at the carpet track in stockton Ca this past weekend. I ran them in the rear for more traction with take off 27's in the front. It was also nice to see four different cars battling it out all day long. Schuie Axis 2, yok special, TC3, and a XXX-S.
