Geppetto: Thats a good point about crossing the finish line. It seems like more this year than ever, I have gotten just accross the line to get that extra lap in qualifying. I didn't get that extra lap very often with my Yokomo because I had the trasponder mounted about mid-ship or near the back.

With my Corally C4.1 and Schumacher '99pro, they both have purpose built mounts right at the front of the car. So the transponder is one of the first things to get to the timing loop. It really does help.

I hope Schumacher finds a way to fit it in at the front. If not I guess its back to mid-ship or near the rear. Or worse, the dreaded hole in the front of the body.

No, the transponder position doesn't help a thing in the qualifying, because it affects both the start time and the finishing time.

JesseT: No, where I race, the time is started when the buzzer goes off, not when your transponder crosses the line. What kind of qualifying do you guys use?

And what I'm refering to is when your car cross the line just as the ending tone goes off. Lets say half the car is on one side of the line and half the car is on the other. If the transponder is on the front half, you get another lap in, if its on the back end, your done.

Atleast thats the way it works at the three tracks here that use the standard AMB lapcounting.

We're sam as Darkside, if we used IFMAR qualifying then what JesseT would come into play ...but even with IFMAR qualifying the mains are always run with everyone starting the same time.

Cool

Darkside: Well, if the Mission's transponder mount is in the rear, you could always try crossing the finish line driving backwards!!!

Geppetto: Believe me its happened a few times in races to the finishline with other racers! Upside down is also a nice way to cross the finish line!...LOL!

ROAR rules state that the finishing order in a main event is to be done visually if 2 cars are racing to the line on the last lap. That way the front bumper crossing the finsh line first designates the winner. As for qualifing, it doesn't really matter, the transponder doesn't really count until about 1-2 feet past the loop.

So is that the final production model? Looks good, looks damn good! This might finally be the car to replace my '99pro.
