Default Haynes

Hey, I just wanted to pop my head in on the Schuey thread and say we're going to miss Mike Haynes over on the Losi side. Congrats to Mike on finally getting a ride, you deserve it.. You all can't even believe how helpful this guy has been for all of us Losi drivers. I think you just gained a huge asset on this RCTech forum (ok, maybe in a few weeks after he's played with the car a bit).

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, i'm very excited about the new car...i have been running a losi for about 4 years and it has treated me real well, but time for something different. Glad i was of help Mark.

I have been getting a foam car setup over the past few weeks, i think it is pretty close to where it needs to be, after the grand slam race i'l post the setup i have on it. I havn't gotten my rubber car yet.

Guys,

I've had my 3.5 for three weeks now and am getting close on setup, but I need more!
I race on a carpet track a little smaller than a tennis court, medium traction, tracks are a mix of slow and fast corners (for the size of the track. Rubber tyres.

The car feels good to drive, a nice balance in high and low speed corners, not too edgey to drive so consistency isn't bad- generally no complaints, but I could use some help to find more corner speed. The setup I finished today with was:

13.5 brushless/Li-Po
Standard 3.5 2.0mm bottom deck
Standard 3.5 top deck
Sorex 28R premount on Revlite
HB Moorespeed 159 shell

Front

Spool
High Position

No servo Saver

0' toe
screw block spacers 1.5mm front and rear
quick klips 2mm both sides
link washers horizontal 2.5mm
ride height 5mm
droop 5mm
1.4mm anti roll bar
4' castor
1.5' camber
link washers vertical 2.5mm
inboard pin kick up
pivot block spacers 0mm front and 2mm rear
steering link on the middle hole on the hub
shock on 2nd hole wishbone
3rd hole in on tower
40wt oil
Schu blue springs
3 hole pistons
Std centre track rod on 2nd hole fronm front

Rear

high diff hight
screw block spacers 2.5mm front 1.5mm rear
wishbone quick klips 2mm both sides
link washers horizontal 2.5mm
ride height 5mm
droop 5mm
anti roll bar 1.4mm
2.0' camber
link washers vertical 3mm
inboard pin horizontal
pivot block spacers
2mm front and rear
shock 2nd outmost hole on wishbone
3rd hole in on tower
inner hole on hub, no spacers
35wt oil
white springs
3 hole

like I said, the car feels pretty good to drive but I need to go faster. My feeling is that I need more grip for the slower corners and I suppose a bit more cornerspeed would help. If I lower the roll centres (by 0.5mm shims on either Front or Rear Verticle Link Washers) I get grip rolling.

Can anyone give me some ideas or suggestions?

Cheers, Chris

I'll be curious to see how close your foam set up is to McGoo/Goetz's vegas foam set up; I never found anything better than that!

What we need you to do is get to work on the VTA stuff!

J/K, were lucky t have you helping us all out.

that won't be a problem his VTA car is faster than 50% of the 17.5 rubber cars locally

And it's only .1-.2 slower than the other 50%.

I believe the main differences were the bulkheads and the chassis etc.

Someone asked a long time ago about converting from an Mi2 to the EC and it wasn't really worth it. Although I believe the corners are essentially the same.

Might be worth looking at the exploded diagrams for both and comparing what comes up.

Mike is a great guy that is always willing to help someone out in the pits if they need it. I know I for one can't wait to see that foam setup
