Suspension Upgrade Update....

For those waiting on the suspension upgrade, I should have everything done next week. Unfortunately some of the parts needed have been on backorder, and I got tired of waiting, so I am buying everything from like 5 different places so I can get these things out of here!

I will keep everyone updated.

Hey guys had a few questions in regards to setting up my Mi3 for carpet rubber.

I am currently running on a med traction carpet track with RP30 tires. I am using the carpet chassis and the thin top deck. I am using pink and blue HPI springs (the softer ones in the rear). I also have a one-way in the car. I have tried spool as well and seem to run the same lap times with either option.

Also, I am running the standard bulkheads w/ Core 5000 Lipos.

Is it recommended to use the carpet chassis or the asphalt chassis for carpet rubber?

Also both my diff heights are set to low. How does this affect handling?

I had also been messing with gear ratios this past weekend. Our track is 100 x 60 with average of 9.3 second laps. I was geared at a 96/47 with my SP 17.5 and was running 8.9-9/0 consistent. I went down to a 96/40 and ran 8.7 consistently. My motor is coming off the track at 130 degrees.

I am consistently running in the middle of the pack for 17.5 rubber.

Are you running the lightweight bulk heads or the standard ones on your car right now? If you are using the lightweight ones stick with the foam chassis if not then go to the stock chassis. For me depending on what bulk heads I had on my car that would dictate what chassis I would use. The lightweight bulk heads give the car more flex and if you add them to the stock chassis thatís almost too much for med to high grip carpet IMO....but the foam chassis and the lightweight bulk heads combo works great along with the stock chassis and stock bulk heads for med to high grip carpet on rubber tires.

Have you tried the spool on carpet yet?

How low are your roll centersÖ.how many mmís are the mounts spaced so we can see if you are too low or what.

I have yet to run a 17.5 in my MI3 in anything other then Trans AM so I cant help you on the gearing....just keep the temp around 120 to 150 and most times you are in the ballpark.

I prefer the carpet chassis and the carpet top deck for rubber tires on carpet even in medium and medium low traction conditions. I felt the thinner top deck and chassis were less consistant and more easily tweaked than the thicker versions. I've broken my share of kit top decks, but never one of the carpets.

my too sense, lol.
