Just had to come on here and say thanks to Ray (PoundItRacing) for coming through for me on some bodies. He had 3 bodies delivered to him today around 3pm, and I just got a call from him saying they are all finished and sending them to me tomorrow. I was sweating it because they got held up in shipping and I was hoping I wouldnt have to run white bodies at the 'Birds. Thanks for coming through once again for me Ray, your the man!

He's making them out of stainless for weight, so no anodizing there. If they were aluminum to anodize, they would be too light to use.

Not sure why not brass, though. Much easier to machine and cheaper, too.

Sure, but for something with tolerances that are going to be tight (fit in the battery slots), lumping on a coat of powdered paint probably won't be the best idea. You could powder coat tool steel, too, at a much reduced cost.

The fact is, he's probably using stainless for the "look" and nothing else considering the same part out of cheaper carbon tool steel could be black oxided and would weigh almost as much.

Again, brass could be made heavier if it wasn't an issue of appearance, which the choice of stainless seems to be for. There is a reason many of the battery cradles already out there for many nitro cars are made out of brass... cheap and heavy.

I was just giving randy a way to get black. as far as tolerances, i guarantee you that anodizing does not preserve the dimensions any better.
