Anyone have some experience with the medflex arms at MDI track (Royal Palm Beach, FL)...I currently have my Mi3 the stock arms, and was going to try the medflex arms at Coral Springs, FL...I have hit MDI for the past weeks, and there's serious traction overthere...maybe the stock Mi3 arms will be ticket instead of the medflex arms...

Actually - Can someone clear up the BL can drilling/modding?
I've seen a few pics of BL can mods in the past. Is this really for the weight saving? Does it help with cooling? Basically a general WTF mate....
Does it compromise magnetic strength? Create the need for more maintenance? Feedback anyone?

I really don't want to hijack this thread with Novak/BL info so I want to preface what I say by saying if you want more information come hit me up in my thread and I'll be more than happy to answer what I can for you:
Why its done: Sometimes weight-savings, sometimes for perceived slightly better cooling, sometimes for perceived slightly better performance.
Does it compromise magnetic strength: No it shouldn't...the material that is taken away is aluminum, which is essentially non-magnetic and doesn't really play a part in the magnetic paths that occur in a brushless motor. The wires and the laminations are some of the the key parts in regards to the magnetic strength of the motor. Less iron: less strength; less copper: less strength. You pay for your lighter motor with decreased magnetic performance.
Does it create a need for more maintenance: Yes, the holes allow for more and larger debris to enter the motor ... because of the tight tollerances in most motors if you get a stone or something actually into the motor it can cause damage.
