Here's what you do, get this Kimbrough medium w/o holes. Instead of predrilled holes, it has 'outlines'. And one of these outlines is in the middle, but its up above the hole that your currently using.

If it will clear the upper deck, this should get you pretty much back to the original throw the car was intended to have with the kit arm.

Take a look at the pic I've attached and see how much higher the mounting hole is.
What you can't tell from my pictures is that in it's current hole, the nut on the back clears the top deck by around 0.5mm when the arm swings forward

THe problem is that the original items have their actual 'arm' very close to the body of the servo, where as Kimbrough's have their arm spaced away from the servo.

With the top deck having it's 'Y' shape at that point makes all the difference between hitting and missing.

I may give it a shot though to see how it feels.
you're exactly right. the new steering system is alot faster than our old dual bellcrank system, even if you used the shorter servoside hole (which i always recommended). i think short servo horns will be very common on the mi3. the only problem here is the pitch of the link from front to rear. when i had the prototype car, i ended up flipping the ball to the bottom of the belcrank to get a better angle, but i also reversed the plates, and spaced the whole unit up a bit to get everything lined back up.

i am hoping that the carpet chassis will have the servo moved out some so that we can use a big (heavy duty) servo horn and still clear the top deck (which is probably also going to give even less clearance). maybe they'll even move the cutout under the servo to function as a relief for the big saver. we shall see...

well here are some pics of my ride.....

Here is what I ended up doing for my servo saver - it was a smaller Kimbrough and I used the top right hole and aligned it up to center - the steering link is angled down just a hair and I had to use a 3mm shim to make it work - I am looking for something slightly taller....

Mr. McGoo if you send me your car I can put a bigger servo saver on for you and return it after the weekend. Very nice looking. Sure you will have fun.

Well after putting my MI3 together last week, I was able to go out last night to Village R/C and do some testing with it last night. This car was box stock on old RP30's was faster than my MI2 EC and I thought my car was really good at this track. The car seamed to have the traction of my EC but with a lot more steering. I also tested with 5 cell and brushless( yeah brushless) and i thought it was amazingly fast.

Mr. McGoo: If I might ask, why are you looking for a taller arm if that setup is working for you? Do you feel your losing steering throw or something?

Oh, and your car looks great!

Well you never know maybe someone will actually take me up on the offer. I still have my trusty EC that works great and is very reliable so no shame in running it for another week or two.

thanks and I have yet to try it out - i am sure it will be fine, but i would prefer the steering link to be completely horizontal rather than have a slight angle downwards......

i just want to make sure i am not loosing anything - i will do some testing this weekend and I will let you know if changing the servo horn works better.....
