Some play is fine but after a few months of hard running layshaft can wear where the pins do through. It might be time for a new layshaft.

Default Diffs

I was reading where a bloke who is selling his new mission stated he lowered his diffs like the factory guys..............

A.) Is this necessary for the car to work properly?
b.) Does the car come like that or do you have to do it yourself by modifying existing parts?

Thanks

Not sure about everyone else but I've pretty much always run the same for 19T/Stock.

I'm sure more of the guys who run the car will chime in after the weekend of racing.

Feom my experience I have always set my car up for mod and it's that much better in the lower classes. So in your case get a dialed 19 turn set up and the car should be killer in stock as well. Others may feel diferently depending on if they like a spool in on class and a oneway in the other. In stock I do like a oneway 99% of the time.

The setup's from mod and stock tend to be similar with the EC, you can perhaps run the suspension slightly softer in stock without the risk of grip roll etc due to the lower speeds.

I think droop is less important in stock as well, as you don't use the brakes the weight transfer is more gradual.

I also run a bmi mi2 (not ec) and the setup is the same as the mod setup except for upper shock location and the car feels dialed i also run a spool for the asphalt in stock class.
heres my setup:
FRONT:
white schumacher springs (tamiya trf shocks) 35wt trinity oil 3 hole pistons
yellow sway bar
shocks in outer hole of tower and arm (bmi tower)
camber links in upper middle hole
droop is 2mm above ride height
ride height is 5mm
camber is -.5 deg
NO SHIMS UNDER PIVOT MOUNTS
REAR:
white schumacher springs(TRF SHOCKS) with 40wt trinity oil 3 hole pistons
no sway bar
shocks in 3rd hole from center on the tower and outer hole on arm (bmi tower)
aluminum rear hub carriers
camber links are in the middle hole on the tower and outer hole on hub carrier
droop is 1mm above ride height
ride height is 5mm
camber is -1 deg
1 purple take off shim under each pivot mount(forgot the thickness)

Hope that helps!

The standard EC comes with 2mm risers plates between the diff uprights and the chassis. The foam spec EC doesnt use the risers plates so the transmission sits lower in the car. You dont need to lower the diffs, some people like it some people dont. If you do choose to run without the diff riser plates you should really be running the foam spec EC shock towers as well, as the suspension geometry will be wrong running the std EC towers without riser plates.
