That looks similar to this one

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXWTV8&P=SM

I saw these at a hobby shop and was not to impressed with the design or the look of the unit. Seemed to be cheaply made but I have not seen one run on the track, it may be good.

would be such a bad ass looking motor is it wasnt half plastic

Ohh well. It almost looks like the brushless version of a silver/black can motor. Looks like a cheap spec motor lol. IMO

I see that the end end bell is plastic similar to the Tekin's. But I think the back half of the motor case just has a matte finish on it (I hope ). That would make it easy to get accurate temp readings at least.

That's true! I guess that's possible. It doesn't say anywhere in the ad it's half plastic, it says aluminum can. Hmmmm.

Can anyone confirm?

I see Barry Baker won the KO race with a Checkpoint motor. Hopefully we can start hearing some feed back on this motor.

Maybe Barry himself can chime in and give us some insight.

Hi there,

I will try to answer any questions that people have on here about the motors.

I can tell you that these motors are great. We have done much testing and have found them to be very good, from the 3.5 all the way to the 21.5, we got them all.

I will check back day by day to see what I can help with.

Barry

I used the Team Checkpoint motors and batteries this past weekend at the KO Race and was very impressed. Power was really good, and powerband felt great as well.

The can is all aluminum, only the back timing adjustment plate is plastic.

17.5......Start around 5.25 and go from there.

13.5......I would start about 6.5

Both motors advance timing...1 line up from center...

Make sure to temp the motors...with a fan you can run them upto around 150-160....without a fan I wouldnt get them hotter the 175-180...thats for 13.5....17.5 should stay much cooler.

Hope that helps,

Barry

Ive done some testing with the 13.5, 17.5, and 7.5 in oval. Overall they are right on par with the best and better than most. Gearing and timing are critical as with all BL motors and different crazy speedo's today. Once you find the sweet spot they run great!

I saw a 17.5 checkpoint at my local shop. It was all black with red around the bearing on the endbell. Is this Duo based?
