Default novak gtb??

Help please, new to electric...

Just got a Novak GTB on here... Will any sensored brushless motor work with this ESC? I just saw a line somewhere on google that you have to run a novak motor with it? I'm assuming that's just a marketing scheme for novak trying to make you use their motors with their esc? I'm hoping anyway.
