lol, thanks.
Hi Andy.
with a 6.5 i would start somewhere in the range of 7.2-7.4 overall ratio. I have never run a 6.5 before but that is where i would start, if she is slow you can give her some speedo boost. the standard for mod tc these days is pretty much a 4.5T geared at 8.3 overall, anything under 100ft straight with no boost, over 100ft then start applying speedo timing but the gearing stays the same.
thanks!
Hi. the only advice i have is to try and drive it slow at first (super smooth), if you can do the same lap times as you do in stock right away in mod you are doing really good. sometimes people think that since they have twice the power they can go twice as fast. with practice if you can eventually go just a couple of tenths per lap faster in mod you are doing awesome.
maybe, lol. not a specialist yet
I know, what have we done to ourselves, LOL
In the past i always ran a 4.0 but lately i have been running 4.5's, mainly BC that is what worked at the worlds track and i have a bunch of them.
Not yet, Anytime though!
Well, since you bumped your thread I will throw you a easy one.
The only sedan class I have raced is 17.5 blinky but will be getting into mod sedan this summer. Is there a rule of thumb on FDR from a 17.5 to mod. At the track I race at I would normally be at around 4.0. So if I was to go to a 6.5 or whatever mod motor would I go up, down or stay the same?

Racing
Paul, long time no talk. My question really has nothing to do with a set up or car related it has to do with mind control. When racing what exactly do you concentrate on? I start off strictly focusing on getting a few good laps with no bumps super clean and smooth, then usually about 6-10 laps i'm very comfortable and I'll turn my fastest lap, then I start thinking more about what the car is doing, and the longer I race the more I get to thinking about other things and find myself trying to re focus on just driving to the next corner but it seems like after 3 minutes I'm just mentally spent. I'm sure that years of racing every weekend and testing all day will overcome most of this, but I don't race full time. I just do it for the fun, and I haven't ever asked anyone who races full time exactly what they think about while they are racing!
