I am looking for a speed control to use with my Trinity D6 6turn i am putting it in a IRS TC-3 kit . any input would be helpful

I think both of them can handle anything you want to throw at them. They both have no motor limit, high current rating, etc. The only real difference would be the adjustability of the GT7. I would suggest flipping a coin, because they're that close. Hope this helps!

I say u should get the LRP IPC 7.1 I have it, and it runs great in racing. I'm getting an LRP Competition Pro later on.

I've never tried a Novak speedo, but I've raced with the 7.1 for 3― year now - it's very durable and easy to use.

I've got both. I would go for the Orange team anytime. There's nothing more reliable than an Novak. Also, the LRP7.1 has been arround for 5 years, the GT7 only 18 months. Which one do you think has the freshest technology?

haha, thats not saying much for the Novak........the resistance is higher than the 7.1, its the same size, has less punch than the 7.1, less amps too........should I go on????

The 7.1 is clearly better to me, I have run both and am back to the LRP

LRP 7.1 ------- on resistance = .00052, 690 amps, can handle up to 8 cells, and a higher drive frequency than the GT7

GT7------------on resistance = .00058, 640 amps, only handles up to 6 cells

I recently sold all my Novaks including my GT7 and bought all LRP speedos, Quantum 1 and 2 and a 7.1. The 7.1 looks a lot bigger than the GT7 but the GT7 has that big azz capacitor. I used to be a Novak guy and never really had a problem with them but my GT7 would glitch with certain motor brush/spring combos. Novaks customer service is very good, not sure about LRP's cause I never had to use them yet. So to answer your question....get an LRP!!!

I highly recommend LRP-- I've been racing since the 80's & have seen a dramatic growth in technology over the past few years. I've tried the GT7 and the 7.1 --- and also the TC2 - all within the last 6 months. My favorite so far is the 7.1 - it was very smooth and glitch free. I would choose the 7.1 and TC2 over the GT7. Mostly it's personal preference. There isn't any substantial difference between them. Most people add more resistance with bad soldering jobs than anything else. Learn good assembly & maintenance techniques.

Both are very good speedos, the GT-7 has more programmable options and has more steps on throttle control than the 7.1. You are able to change wires easier with the GT-7 than the 7.1, and it has a smaller footprint for size. The newer GT-7 has the diode already installed. The LRP 7.1 is very reliable with similar specifications, but lesser expensive than the GT-7, a good deal for your money. If you intend to race your car, you might want to consider the GT-7 because of the diode.

I like the GT-7. I have one and its great. Very adjustable, great "punch". But the huge Cap is a real pain in the bum. Mines falls off of the mounting slot sometimes, and leaves the Cap hanging off the side of the car while i'm driving. But I fixed that, for now...

I sent it in for repairs due to borrowing someone elses battery that was set up backwards.....therefore I soldered it backwards and blew out my brake FET's

So, if you dont know WHY I sent it in dont post stupid remarks......I wasnt INSULTING anyone, I was just stating facts

I have never had to send another one in for repair since I started using them 5 years ago.......only sent them in for new cases as the old ones starting looking bad

I think you canīt compare as the LRP 7.1 is older in design and less programmable. You should compare to the Quantum series.
Despite this the 7.1 still is a very good ESC. But I think I only would go for it if you could get one used in good condition. For buying a new one I would go for a Quantum.
