Yes, I saw it at the 'birds. Lemme see if I can dig up a pic somewhere.....

Here ya go! This isn't the exact same car I saw, but note the motor and batteries are moved forward and the diff heights are adjustable. The one I saw looked like it was made with a dremel in a dark room. (actually, I'm sure it was. )

Best Touring car in it's time was hands down the Factory Team TC3. That car dominated the stock racing scene for years in the states and without a doubt had every rc company redesigning their touring cars or starting from scratch to try and keep up with a car that was very hard to beat especially on carpet with foams.

TC3 this, TC3 that...did tamiya ever win a title with any of thier designs they produced? What about the TB series cars tamiya made?
TB, TB EVO, 2,3,4,5 and every year they come out with a new car.
Marc Reinard actually has a car named after him, and tower still stocks the car.
What about Losi, did they ever win a title, or was the TC3 just dominating everything? I dont hate the TC3 it's just everytime I go to the track that
is what most everybody has, or wants to run. I look at my B44 and I see TC3 written all over it.

The reason TC3 is all over the place on this thread is because the question that started this thread is "best touring car at its time" not best series or best touring car manufacturer. If that was the case we might be talking about others.

I was not aware of R/C in our country at the time but what were the competition running when David Jun took his TA03 to the podium?

Heh. Pro 3 was the first and only TC I ever bought (back in '01), and I barely ever ran it until I started racing a couple months back. I'm using it to learn all about what does not make a good car, and how not to drive.

I love my TC3, I have had it since 2003 and still racing it in VTA and sometimes in rubber 17.5 just to be different and still winning. In 2004 I bought the Penguin chassis for it.

+1 with the tc3 (I had the original one with less shock mounting options), but credit also goes to the HPI RS4, a great high spec car that did well, as well as the RS4Pro2.

I also liked a similar spin off from the tc3, the Tenth Technology Streetwise.

UK made, shaft drive, good enough spares back up but never really took off enough to see it last.

Tamiya TL01.

Stiff chassis, smooth shaft drive transmission with motor positioned to eliminate torque steer. Great design, can probably still win silvercan 540 against todays modern TCs.

Thanks.

Everyone praising the TC3's? I remember back in the day at my local track those of us running Xray T1Rs and T2s put the smack down on the TC3's, not only because the Xray's were outright faster/better handling, but because the TC3s were always busted up and coming off the track before the race was done.
