Well, my own solution isn't a ceramic solution, but it is HELLUVA lot cheaper solution.

Go to:

http://www.avidrc.com/

All bearings on there are $1 a piece. Just replace it as you go...

David Joor, the owner is a great guy. I've ordered from him once or twice already, and have always been hassle-free and no b.s. service...

Are the Avid bearing smoother than stock? Would you be able to pick up speed going with the Avids?

+1 - these bearings are really all you'd need. I'm quite happy with mine.

If you are looking for a smooth fast bearing I would definitely try Boca Bearings ceramic bearings. Your running onroad (little or no dust, dirt), go with a metal shield, alot less drag then a rubber shield.

I would recommend these for the 12r5.1:

Here are Boca's dollar kit also:
http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.as...8371&n=*05-140

They have free shipping available too!!!

Honestly, I don't see a need for ceramic bearings in electric on road racing. Every big race I've been too, I've just used $1 bearings from avid or someone similar. As soon as you tap a wall or two, you usually damage the wheel/hub bearings right away. I used to use ceramic... and it just got too expensive. I haven't seen any performance increase on the track with ceramic bearings, and normal bearings haven't slowed me down one bit. Just save your money and buy a good supply of the normal bearings and I think you'll be much happier.
