you can wet sand the carbon fiber all you want to make it look pretty, but we all know that carbon fiber's weak spots are the edges, so you need to seal them with CA glue. I like the idea of using the sharpie, then brushing the CA on with a cue tip, works awesume. That's what i did on my TC4

is it really worth the effort to do it "perfectly"? after you build the car you can hardly tell how well its done... i spent a few hours on the chassis on my Reedy Race car, top deck shock towers... everything... wasn't worth the time lol. now i just do enough to protect the chassis

quick wet sand of the edges, a slight bevel for the batteries, then a quick CA with q-tips...

I did not think you were supposed to seal the edges on anything but the bottom chassis. I never do anything else but the bottom deck for I was told if you did the other stuff you could experience a tweak issue.

What's the purpose of using a black Sharpie when finishing the chassis edges? I'm assuming it's just cosmetic.

IMO, a well sanded chassis w/o CA is much less likely to delaminate than an average sanded one w/ CA. I don't believe a thin layer of a brittle glue is going to do much to keep the chassis from splitting, I have never had a chassis that I have sanded spilt, ever.

Yes.

I sand then use a silicone that I put into a empty CA bottle. Then use that. I just built my JRX-s in the winter so I havn't used it that much.

But my LHS owner had the xray and he didnt seal his and he ran with our 1/10th scale onroad sedans and got T-bones buy a serpent 720 . Nothing happened except a bent real hinge pin or axle not sure its been so long.

SO all in all I think its up to the builder if they want to use these tips. I know it hasnt hurt mine so far.

Get yourself a Tamiya Hard Coated File, it will make your life easier when you file the battery slot.

Thank's Guy's
Some really great info there. I have 2 MSX and one of them was already done because it was second hand and that job was so good and smooth. The other MSX was new, so when I did it I used cheap super glue and it came out crap, So now I will use your tip's to get a great finnish.
Thanks Guy's
