Protecting Soft Case Lipo
Just bought some soft case lipos. Was wondering what you guys do to protect them?

Best way to protect soft-case lipos, is to use hardcase lipos.

On a serious note , I used soft pack LiPOs in competitive racing with crashes and nothing bad ever happened . I like to put a layer of power tape over my LiPOs , I find it very effective since the battery is quite tight in my car so it gets rubbed alot .

Okay... that REALLY helps.

Make sure the lipo fits snugly in the tray. Any play will allow it to move around, and in a crash that means higher likelihood of damage. If the pack doesn't quite fit the tray use some medium/higher density foam to fill in the gaps. Add it to the front of the tray, as that is the most likely spot the pack would impact in a crash. Consider adding an extra layer of heatshrink around the pack.
These are the things I've seen guys do for 1/8 vehicles. If you have a 1/10 TC that uses tape to hold down the pack then you can't really add foam, you just need to make sure it's snug. Need to be careful that the pack can't come into contact with any moving parts, especially gears.
As was already said, hardcase packs are really the best way to go if you are concerned about protection.

don't be fooled by the hardcase, the lipo itself still moves around inside the case , and i have found after opening a hardcase up that the lipo is more damaged than some of my soft case (wear marks from dirt and dust inside the case), the best thing to do is make it secure, and dont use velcro on soft case, it pulls the lipo apart inside when you pull it out of the car

Where can I get shrink wrap big enough for lipos?
Do you use shrink tubing or shrink tape for lipos?

By proper, decent, branded hard case lipo's and stop messing around with cheap crap.
There's a reason why there were rules introduced for all the big meetings and race sanctioning bodies about using hard cases... SAFETY!
