Default Servos (KO PDS 2123 v PDS 2143)

Hi

After my KO 712 servo died on me last night after giving me good service I am looking for a new servo for my touring car (PRO 4).
After reading on this forum I have decided to got for a digital one, but can not decide between the KO PDS 2123 (7.2v) or PDS 2143 (6.0v). Any help making my decision will be great.

as far as you everyone knows, all ESC only put up 6.0V or less. The 2123 is powerful and fast but it only perform such if you have the FET lead connected somehow to your battery line or to an ESC with similar lead such as LRP Comp ESC in order for it to receive extra oomph of voltage.

2143 on the other hand is much simpler than that where it does not require that extra FET power lead like it's faster brother does yet it still is considered to be fast and powerful not to mention A LOT cheaper than the 2123s.

If your Pro 4 is equipped with an ESC with that FET lead already (LRP COMP, etc), go ahead, buy 2123 and enjoy the advantage. If not, stick to 2143.

Check your ESC specs first ! If your ESC only deliver 5 volt, you'll only get 75% speed of the KO 2143 !!!

And you dont need an ESC with an FET wire, the 2123 comes with a little manual, which shows how to connect it directly to the main battery. It just requires a little soldering.

a few things to note -

a) any servo can be hooked up to run on 7.2v, but the true fet servos likely have an internal motor rated to handle that voltage.

b) since fet servos will draw from your battery, the supply voltage is therefore not regulated. this means that, like your motor, your servo will now get slower through the duration of the race. yes, it will still be faster than running standard 6.0v, but the point is that it adds, yet another, inconsistency to work around.

you decide.

fyi - airtronics 94758 is a digital 6.0v servo that has a .07/.06 transit time spec! freaky!

Default PDS-2343 FET Servo

What about the KO PDS-2343 FET Servo. Only 6V but is also programable. Very awesome servo!

I've used the 2143 for years and I love it. I've never found that I would need a faster servo then the 2143.

Thanks for all the info folks.
After reading the info I decided to go for the KO PDS 2143.

Two things helped me decide.

1. Seaball's comment about a 7.2v servo gettin slower which make sence to me. (even if I would not notice)

2. Easier to install and swap with another servo at racing.

Thank for the help

I have run a 2123 for a long time now. It may get slower as the race goes on but i have never noticed it. Great servo.
