Default R/C Tech Live @ the 2004 Winterfest U.S. Triple Crown Race in Milwaukee, WI

Hi all,

Some more "bonus" coverage coming from R/C Tech this weekend, as we are attending Winterfest, the fourth of five U.S. Triple Crown races for the 2003-2004 season (the other races are the Halloween Classic, the Cleveland US Indoor Champs, the January Jam and the upcoming ROAR Carpet Nationals).

There won't be any fancy coverage sections on the website or anything this time around, since I am driving back and forth to the race each day to save money and thus have very little time. There are something like 115 entries, which is not bad considering this is the first time the event has ever been run. And, of course, Scotty's facility is top-notch as always.

I'll have an entry list posted later tonight, there are 3 rounds of qualifying tomorrow with another round and the mains on Sunday. Plenty of R/C Tech users are racing in this one, so I thought you guys would like to know how they're doing.

Enjoy!

The track looks like it is the same as the TCS race from Sunday. Is that the case?

Shane any coverage you give on this race I consider a bonus. I appreciate all the coverage you have done on all the races.

It makes me feel like I am there.

Thanks,
Larry

No, the track is much tighter than the TCS race. We ran on the same track as the TCS last tuesday, and although some of the parts of the track are similar, it's tightened up quite a bit.

where was it tightened up. I can see the dark line from the TCS race around all the corners. I can't imagine that much traction was put down from just today.

There are a lot of foam cars, which equals quick traction.

The area just to the left of "winterfest2.jpg" was changed, there are no longer any dots in the middle of the track there where there was for the TCS, and it was made into a tighter lane.

Cool, Those dots really were bogus, it was like a rally section if you went too wide.

thanks

That was actually my favorite section of the track. It took Doug Hay to point it out to me, but if you went really wide in the corner before the dots, you could almost straight-line the dots, and carry quite a bit more speed through there.

Overall, I liked that layout.

jw has the entry list and will hopefully post it sometime tonight; the qualifying sort wasn't officially done yet when I left. We'll probably have results posted after the first three rounds tomorrow.
