Performance seems to be more about the speed controls and not so much about the motors these days. I was at IIC race in Vegas and there were plenty of duo's, duo 2's, Ballistic, Tekin's, and Hurricane motors in the a-main's. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them these days.

What were the majority of speedos you saw in the A-mains?

The Novak's design is superior to anything else on the market. I'm not sure it's faster than a DUO though.

Well if that was your question why didn't you ask that in your first post then?

Baker was running a Ballistic 13.5 in Vegas and was one of the fastest (if not THE fastest) cars in the class. Many makes of motors were run in the A-Mains.

Finding the right gearing/timing/esc settings can make just about any motor a real screamer on the track.

Hey guys,

Just as others have posted finding the proper gearing, motor timing and speed'o settings is key. Its like a good symphony! When worked out its just amazing! (or not ) Most of the current motors on the market are all fast. Some are faster on smaller tracks and others on larger tracks. As all have seen speed'os are a large part of finding that "power" we are all looking for.

I will be getting a Novak to try soon and will post up what I find after running it.

The Duo's have been known to be second to nothing since they have been around. They are also known to be more capable of being pushed to the limmit of gearing. This is most likely because of the cooling of the open endbell and face plate on the Duo.

The KV numbers of the Ballistic are the same as the older Novaks and even Novak have said the new motors are not expected to perform better than the previous SS range. That is not a bad thing as they were one of the best choices anyway.

I saw them all but I would say there were not many Novak speed controls compared to others. Yet Barry was still able to put one in the show but that is Barry, enough said.

I thought about changing it to Pee Wee Herman to make you look funny but decided against it.
