anyone heard of hobbycity.com(extremely cheap lipos)
has anyone ever heard of www.hobbycity.com? im thinking of getting some of their lipo batteries but there too cheap to be good lipos, or am i wrong? are there lipo batteries just as good as regular lipos?

I and another club member have 4 of the Zippy Flightmax 4000 hardcase lipos from Hobby City. GREAT STUFF !!!! Plenty of juice for RCGT and at 27 bucks a pop I can afford new batteries whenever I need them. Great service too. A definite recommendation.

Cheapest priced Lipo out there...
When you pay more than that, you're paying for the customer service and quality control.
To my knowledge, ALL LiPo batteries are manufactured in China.
In off-roading, the Zippys and Turnigys are popular. When I go LiPo, I'm going with HobbyCity/HobbyKing.

I have ordered MANY times from Hobby City including many different LiPos for radios, receiver packs, and like mentioned above, my 1/8th electric buggy.
Like mentioned above - basically ALL LiPo batteries are made in China and Korea. Even the name-brand stuff like trinity, reedy, etc.
Hobby City buys in MASSIVE quantities directly from manufacturers and I believe they've recently begun manufacturing a line of their own LiPo batteries. All batteries I have received from them are definitely up there quality-wise with any other name-brands. They have all shown at LEAST their rated capacity and discharge rates.
Other electronics they offer (Brushless motors/ESCs/radio gear/servos) are generally lesser-quality than the american made equipment but the price definitely reflects it and they're still fantastic values. Just don't expect one of their $10 servos to act like a $150 JR servo or a $30 ESC to act like a mamba monster.
I would not hesitate for a moment to buy LiPos from them. Great quality, Great prices. Only down side is that unless you pay for expedited shipping expect a wait time of at LEAST 1 full week if not 2 weeks. But once the package arrives you'll be stocked with great quality LiPos.

pack for my Xray XB8 conversion and I paid $49 plus shipping... and I couldn't be happier

Anybody tried their chargers? They all look like copies of the Orions and the Venom/Racer's Edge chargers. I'm wanting to get a 10a charger but I dont wanna shell out over $100 for it.

I picked up a red hardcase 2S 4000 25C pack early last summer and it ran great until well I guess I had too much gearing, not really sure what happened. Had 18/56 32p on my Rustler and ESC, motor were cool, battery hit 150*
Don't think I'm going to use that one anymore. Was going to get another one for my HPI RS4 Rally, but it's too tall, the front belt rubs pretty bad. That 30C 5200 looks likt a perfect fit for the VXL Rally. Thanks, good find!!

Well 5200 30C is 2S2P and that is not good. More cells more failure points... and quicker discharge... Better to look at 2S1P.
In general if you have good charger (very good one - f.e. iCharger or Hyperion), have set LVC at least 3,2V per cell and charge packs with low current (<1C) even hobbycity cheap lipos will work reasonably. There is some quality issues with some batches but it happens even with good brands like maxamp or smc...Difference is that MA or SMC will warrant it, with hobbycity, hmm... better I do not start :-)

Good points but as far as warranty goes....It's a calculated risk that any battery will ALWAYS be warranteed. Hobby City might be more difficult but...are prices 2-3 times higher worth the possibility of warranty coverage. Anybody can screw up a battery and often do. R u using a good charger, R the settings correct, Do you balance it often, R u racing or bashing for extended periods......the list goes on. At 27 bucks for my 4000 hard packs i'll take my chances and I still treat them like gold. Then again, If I'm spending 100 bucks or more on a comparable battery....I'd want the warranty coverage too !!

A buddy of mine did the International Speed Challenge last weekend and used the red HC batteries... broke 92MPH with his RC motorcycle and the batteries did it w/o breaking a sweat....
