I have the older version of Castle Link for the Mamba Max and just recently got the Pro. Does anyone know how I can get the Castle link adapter that plugs into the rx wire without getting the whole Castle Link again?

Look at the page back I post some really good setup using 13.5 ballistic especially for a smal track. Sweet spot on ballistic is around 5.6-5.9 FDR it depends he long is the straight.

Default Spec Mode

Just wondering if anyone has been racing in spec mode. I am getting ready for a big race and was wondering what FDR people are running in 17.5 TC spec mode with the mamba. I was getting down into the 3.5 range with the novak kinetic controller. But the mamba always seems to have more rip and I haven't had a chance to do a back to back comparison at the track and was just wondering what others are running.

If you bought it new there is a coupon in the box for a free link. The older link that you are talking about is a just a USB cable with a 4 pin connector on one end. Most digital camera's come with this type of cable. The mamba max actually had a USB adapter built into it. The Pro does not, that is why you need the adapter. If you bought it used you can still buy the castle link on the web at any number of hobby shops. But it will come with the usb cable and disc.

im was running the mmp on spec mode....
tc4
duo 2...timing all the way up on the motor
fdr 4.08
on a 90 x48 carpet track
the speed was good all over the track..& lots of punch in the infield
plus i have power on low
punch disable
no drag brake

I ended up running a ballistic motor with the mamba. I started with the Kinetic, but it just seemed to slow. So switched back to the mamba and it was better. I switch from a duo 3 motor back to the ballistic motor and it was better yet. After talking to a bunch of the guy that had faster cars most were running way higher FDR's than I started with. I ended up in the 4.8 -5.0 range of FDR and the car was very good. The guy that won the stock main did it with a FDR of 5.44, this is without ESC timing.

what size track??

is there any reason to run a mamba max pro rather than a rx8 ESC on a light e-converted 808 (excepted the price)?

Mamba needs to update their firmware and a smaller footprint.

Updated firmware would be nice. However I don't think it needs to be smaller. If they just added solder tabs I would happy. Every other ESC out right now is just as big if not bigger. With the exception of the Tekin. I would like a better case design, but other than that the size is fine. If they could shrink it to the tekin size then I think we would no longer be able to run it in 1/8 scale.
