1. edm rob-4
2. skater-deez1-4 or more...price dependent
3. vabroom - 4 + tensioner
4. cdlowe30907- 2 or 4
5. farley1 - 3
6. rctrackman - 4
7. undying - 2
8. rubbaneck - 2
9. 429racer - 2
10. skid plate - 2

Looks like the pulley is too close to where the assembly is. I'll be making a modified tension bracket after all. Trying to keep costs down for you guys.

I welcome everyone that's been following along. Pictures are above. What I'm going to try so I don't have to modify the tensioner much is to flip it over and move the pulley to the other side. This will make the L shape stick downward instead of upward and allow me to add adjustment holes. If I have to make tensioners, what price sounds far for a new one? Does 10 dollars sound fair? Or, would you guys rather me include instructions on how to modify YOUR tensioner to work with a 1:1 template for hole placement? Also, please subscribe to this thread if you are interested. This is NOT a for sale thread but I'd like to keep a running list of those interested so we can keep these cars on the track. Why Losi ever orphaned this chassis, I'll never understand.

Looking at this picture I think that two 41T diff pulleys (the ones used for the overdrive/underdrive) will do the trick .
Which kind of belt are you using ? STPD S3M or HDT 3M ?

Keep also in mind that you cannot move the tensioner too much, otherwise the belt will rub again itself at the bottom of the chassis, see picture (sorry, but unable to find a bigger one).

Probably cause they don't want to pay around 2k in tooling ...... again ! .

HD tooth. I find that they hold up better under higher torque situations and last a LONG time. Yup, I actually got a screw into the tensioner but the belt was simply too tight. That's why I feel that there needs to be some adjustment work done in the tensioner itself. Losi wouldn't be paying 2k in tooling because they were the ones that owned the tooling (or at least the supply house did). That also could have simply used an existing sized belt and made another modified tensioner. Glad to have you following along. I have no idea what diff pulleys this car has, but think they are the same size. I'll be counting tonight to check if I get a chance. How many different variations of diff pulleys were there? (I'm still new to the XXX-S chassis overall)

The standard pulleys are 42T, however inside the kits (or at least the racing version ones) you'll find 2x42T and 1x41T.
This because you can configure your XXX-S to use the overdrive/underdrive setup option (see Losi XXX-S G+ manual here http://www.tlracing.com/ProdInfo/Fil...251-manual.pdf ).
A total difference of 2T on the pulleys will give you an extra belt length of 6 mm.

Also if you get the spare parts you'll find a 41T pulley (the one with the black marks) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Losi-Pulley-...item53ff1ad37d

P.S. Don't count the teeth on your pulleys, the 41 or 42 number is printed near the bearing hole .

Many, many thanks for this. I had no idea. Being able to get some slack would be so nice and actually make this work!

Also, I'm sure the pulley you have right now is white? Correct?

Correct. Pulley on the tensioner is the stock, white one.

I say push that tensioner down and run it. The belt might have a little give once it's rotating.

just a thought

LOL. Um, no. The kevlar re-inforcing in the belt makes it have very very little stretch at all. It's meant to get set and be run until it's used up. There just is too much tension and drag by pushing it down. I don't want people breaking or bending things to use a belt.

Can you push the belt tensioner down a little more, cut a slot in the side of the chassis and to put a screw with a larger washer to hold the tensioner in place?

You could... but this is why I took pictures. I wouldn't run my car like that because I don't think the tensioner would stay set for very long. As you can see, there isn't much surface area to work with.

I have 2 cars set up with 41tooth pulleys right now if you need a test fit!
