What's the best way to rebuild shocks on an old XXX-S? I find it very difficult to get no air in the shocks, bc you have to essentially build them upside down. Any tips?

My years of experience I have had very little issues building these. I just fill with oil, screw the cartridge half way on. While holding shock with a rag I slowly push shaft all the way in, extra oil pushes out and I tighten the cartridge to the body with shaft in. I pump the shock to make sure it has full travel and feels good and call it done.

Well, for those interested in belts, please message me. Cost to produce was higher that previously expected. Since the belt is twice the length of the Weapon belt, cost will most likely be around 30 shipped. I will give volume discounts. Going to do some extensive testing this week with a fellow rctech member and they will be for sale next week if all goes well. Just want to keep you guys in the loop.

So start with the shaft all the way out? Makes sense. I'll try that.

Bad news... Losi made the gear cases so tight, the belts won't work. Trying a few solutions right now. Will keep you guys updated.

Anyway i had a new yellow xxx-s belt which was new in packet for 10 years, after installing, it has disintegrated without any use at all!! i'm gutted

Cannot source any worldwide, ebay etc, one was on ebay buy went for stupid money and there is no guarantee it won't just fall to bits like my last one so I didn't risk it.

Any help of the development of a custom belt or source for new belts, i'm all ears, i want to race it in a local tournament again!

(a friend has also just sourced a xxx-s and he'd be interested in obtaining spares too.)

Thanks Farley
I've seen some belts go for crazy money lately. I have been lucky in that I started buying them (extra belts) almost a year back, just enough to keep me running for at least a few more years.

Try doing a google search for: LOSA3277, this is the "HD Drive Belt Kit: XXX-4" part. It has a tensioner that gives you the option to run it in either the XXX4 off-road buggy or the XXXS. Once you have that installed, you can run XXX4 belts which at least gives you more choices, you may have an easier time finding one of those belts.

If anyone at Horizon / Losi was paying attention, they would realize that this car should be reintroduced to the market... they could make a "VTA RTR" or something like that. The drift version wasn't all that popular but a Trans Am release would sell pretty well I believe. Lots of guys like us still know just how durable / easy these cars are to drive. Lately I have been getting 3rd place in the mains with mine, losing out to guys that do a lot more driving than I do (and one is a former nat. champ) running much newer cars.

I see some posts from others about belts possibly being produced a little further back (jhwnissan).

They look awesome too! If belts were not such an issue, I would snatch up a used one in an instant!

Any updates on the belts? I would gladly pay whatever to whomever to get a working belt or two. I am still researching my options and will provide any updates I can.
