Hello.

Just wondering what you do to the Sorex **R series tires. I noticed what you need about 5 runs to "break them in" before they actually grip. Is this true?

Not really, I just make sure they have a slight gap between the tire and the insert and they grip like hell from the get go. I say this because I have had first hand experience with what happens if you have a tight tire/insert combo.... I usually use Yokomo med or firm or Echo inserts...Sorex actually has their own inserts too that should work well.

I hope the Sorex inserts are perfect with their tires.......I just ordered a 28r combo from SpeedtechR/C and I picked to get them with the Sorex inserts instead of with Yokomo or HPI.

I think they are good inserts...which ones did u get the A or B inserts. I liked my 28Rs, but last summer I liked the 32-36Rs a little better. I may try some Take Offs this year. Were gonna do a flip flop tire wise from last year!

The info that Speedtech provided about the inserts said "B" for stock, "A" for modified. So since I've never used those tires or inserts before, I took their advice. So since we mainly do stock class, I went with "B".

I would rather they list them as hard or soft......or something I can relate to better than just Stock or Mod.

I think the stock ones are slightly thinner which overall provide more grip.

I'm sure you wont be disappointed with the Takeoffs. I just wanted to try another tire this year. Mine from last year were that special Corally compound, but Garry ran the CS27 with alot of success. At Mike's, RedX, and OP.

You cant go wrong with either tire, Sorex or TakeOff. I have them both and they both ROCK!!!

In my Sorex 36r i have the green hpi insert, but just got a set of 32 and want to try the Echo insert.

For the TakeOff, i use the insert that comes with it. I think it is their medium compound. I have teh 27 and 22 for winter racing.

I use sorex tires here and they HOOK UP!!!! There is no need for a "break in". I used the sorex inserts first and they worked real good...but when I got some new ones the store was sold out of sorex inserts, so I used HPI inserts...worked even better.

I've used the 28Rs, 32Rs and 36Rs and havent worn any of them down yet. I have AT LEAST 40 packs on my set of 32s and they still look new...and still HOOK UP.

Can't go wrong with Sorex!

Some of you will probably laugh at this, but I have never even seen a Echo insert. What makes them so special? I have always liked the Yokomo inserts.

Darkseid, just another tuning option. I have been running echo reds in my last two sets of sorex, but have a set with sorex A inserts. Apparently they are more aggresive than the B. Yes, the B's are thinner and I think softer too.

Modena > What kind of surface do you race on? Which HPI Inserts have you used? I have a new pair of 32s and can not decide what insert to use, Sorex, HPI, or Echo.

Dark > I believe Echo is imported by Shcumarker (SP?), the same people who import TakeOff. I have never tried them, but people around here say they rock.

Speedo > Which Echos have you used? I beleive there are two kinds, one kind just came out and the other ones are from before.

We run on low traction asphalt. I used HPI Red inserts for Stock and they worked great. Im going to start running Modified this year, and lots of people told me to use HPI Green inserts for that class because they are slightly harder. I've used Red inserts in the 28s, 32s and they were hooked. Used sorex inserts in the 36s (i think they were the B's), worked very well...but not quite as good as the HPI inserts do.

Sorex do 4 inserts, Medium (grey) in type A and B. Then firm (Black) in A and B.
