New to electric! What do I need?
 

Looking for some advice and help. I've only ran nitro and when I started looking into EP vehicles I noticed that there's a LOT of things to know about Electric.

So far I think the Team Associated TC5R FT kit will do just fine.
Tekin RS pro ESC (that's what was recommended to me at LHS but somebody else said that with that ESC is like cheating? How's that? anybody know?)
17.5 T brushless motor not sure what brand (Novak, Orion, LRP Please help!)
Lipo battery (I have no clue on this one) suggestions???
Lipo Charger ( completely lost ) Suggestions??

What else do I need?

Which steering Servo?
Which rubber Tires?
Body?
any other special tools?

If your running at a track that's where you'll get all your answers...

I run two classes at a local outdoor track here on Okinawa...

The Tamiya class solves most of those issues as it restricted to tires, body, motor must be Tamiya. Battery is Nimh stick 3700 or less.

The 23t class is limited to 23T brushed motor, 3700 nimh or less.

Most guys here run Sorex tires (28r-40r depending on temp), yellow team bomber inserts and we are allowed to use tire sauce. I use Flap tire juice.

Bodies are open just as long as they are touring car style, like Mazda 6, Dodge or even the R9 or LTC.

Check with your club rules on lipo limits, pretty sure it's gonna be a hard case.
As for a charger, I like my ICE from duratrax but you need a power supply.

I also have three AC6 chargers from hobbyparts.com a good deal for 55 each AC/DC and seem to do a good job.

Servo is your choice, I run digital futaba's 3151's I think...

Which steering Servo? Futaba low profile but any good servo (with a fast response time and good torque)
Which rubber Tires? I run Sorex 32, Muchmore Sweeps 32-36, but when I'm just testing I use cheap sets like Yeah Racing slicks, which are damn cheap and are good enough for my needs.
Body? Protoform Speed 6, Mazda 6, too many choices here.
any other special tools? Good hex set has been the one great buy I've had to make and use constantly.

As for LIPO, I purchased 3 Yeah 3200 20C and I'm going to be completely honest - they have been great even though the brand is not the best known for LIPO. They perform as good as some other packs I have with higher C ratings but thats just my exp.
