Default Discharging 1c lipos??

Hey guys. I see that some battery manufactures say to discharge your 1 cell lipo before charging it. What are you guys doing and is this necessary?

That would be a 1s lipo, not a 1c. Big difference there

Read any literacture on Lipo maintenance. Should clear your question. 3v is the cutoff when discharging per cell. not to be charged over 4.3v per cell.

Lipos not the same as NiMh's. So forget charging lipo as nimh's. Different chemistry between the two.

Good Luck! Purchase a charger that specialize on chargng lipo only, like the Hyperion 6061i or BC6(e-station) laptop Charting & temp gauge. Directions on charging and maintenance are included.

Between Hyperion & tthe Bantam e-station, The two does exactly the same function. The only diffeance is cosmetically. Bantam few dollars cheaper Main hobbies & RCAccessory.com a good place to purchase.

Lipos should not be charged over 4.22v per cell or you will end up with an overcharged and damaged lipo. Which is also why per roar rules at tech your lipo cannot be over 4.22v on a 1s and 8.44 on a 2s.

From what ive heard on some of the 1s lipos is they have better punch longer when discharged and charged again. I noticed this with the SMC 4000s. If I charge them a day before and run them the next day they work just fine. But when I discharged them and recharged them before my quals and race, they seemed to have more punch and hold there edge longer. I saw the same results with the SMC 4900s.
