What FDR are people running for VTA and for 17.5 spec?
Running a non-perm carpet track, about 40 x 30 or maybe 50 x 40 .. have to ask someone..
Anyone run a aftermarket ecs shafts? The xrays are $50 ea..
If your reading this and your still running your T3 - I have 11 and sort of a 12 updated some bits.. I enjoy the cars, and as long as parts are available I will continue to run them.
Anyway.. just trying to keep the thread alive, because I want to continue to discuss this car.

One thing I find interesting.. dont see people change springs on cars anymore.. 20 years ago.. 10 years ago.. people changed springs all the time. Now it seems to be more ride height and droop, maybe oils in the shocks..
I guess one factor is.. fewer tracks.. so if your usually running only one type of surface and type of track.. not much need to make dramatic changes like springs.

As far as springs go, I think the rubber spec cars have more flex in them than the foam specific cars...the kit springs, if I remember correctly, were pretty spot on. 3.0 front, 2.6 rearI think...
Reflex racing dcj driveshafts are a good substitute for ecs shafts

I have a T3R and recently picked up a used T3. I have been running the Spec-R gear diff in the T3R and picked one up for the T3. I like it really well as my T3R was well planted on asphalt most of the time running 17.5 spec. Making sure I had the right tires for the temp was the challenge.
I'll be running the used T3 in VTA with the same version of the Spec-R gear diff. I built it with Associated black grease and it feels smooth. Having two chassis that are parts compatible is key for me as I used to run a TC4 in VTA. Too many parts to keep as well as metric vs imperial threads to keep track of when running both.
Gearing will be 3.7 - 4.0 FDR depending on temps.

Just picked up a T3'12. It has the standard diffs: gear rear, solid front. I'm thinking I should pick up a second gear diff and load it with heavy oil or diff putty for the front. I'm not big on spools as I can be a bit of a tapper. The car will be used for 17.5, USGT and possibly VTA: what ever everyone else is running that day. Does switching to a second gear diff make sense?

It's a tuning aid but not a requirement. You'll see some really fast guys with them and some without them for each class. I would honestly just put the car down with the spool and tune until your happy. If you find that you need the gear diff then add it.

This is a long topic so this may have been discussed but how do you solve traction rolling on a base model T3 running VTA?

Which Xray is most compatible with the Spec-R S1/R1?

There is some compatibility with the T3. The body posts are even in the exact same position. Belts, diffs, suspension / steering pieces.... If i'm wrong someone correct me but I want to say I remember all of that working between both cars. I sold my R1 a while back, so I may be a bit foggy on a few details.

It could also be as simple as making sure there is adequate glue on the front tires, and seeing if the the body rubs. (Im guilty of this). Also do you put traction additives on the front tires? If so, stop or just do a bead on 1/4 of the inner tire. I also solved my problem by adding RACEBERRY's T4 conversion shock towers. It allows you to use the T4 shocks on a T3. Pretty sweet if you have an extra set laying around. I still run a T3 in VTA.

excellent cars.
As far as Spec R1 parts from what I can tell durability wise carriers are much better via Xray brand than Spec R1. comes at a cost but I think in the long run its cheaper.
I have to say though the Spec R1 body mounts worked well, and were significantly cheaper than the xray ones.
All in all, very happy with the cars even if I don't get to run them much.

Does anyone have a new/newish T3 for sale?
