KYOSHO 1/8 Motorcycle

Does anyone have one of those? Looks like good fun.
Could I use Micro RS4 motors?

rc-zombies 02-09-2004 04:44 PM

yea..I have fun...they're fun to bash around in front of the house..... I haven't modded mine yet...but I think you can put the micro motors in them. Alot of option parts are still available for the bike. If you decide to get one...get the newer leaning body version.

Really cheap on ebay, great looks (unlike the 1/5 scale ones), lot of options and with all the new mini sized electronics looks like you make these silly fast.

Quantum 2 or GM ...12 speedo.
Pushed 600 mah RS4 micro packs.
Orion elite modified (bigblock may be to big)
KO KR 302 reciver.
KO mini servo.

Just dreaming. :p

doesn't hurt to dream.... :D

The motor that comes with the bike is 280 size. I think the micro motors are 180 size? It may not necessarily be an improvement on the original. I have seen the Kyosho bikes run with their optional 280BB motor......you can raise the front end of the bike. I think that is probably enough fun without being too extreme of pulling a wheelie for 100ft!:D :D

So it is more like the big block size?
Looks like it can go quite fast.

Tekin Brushless ESC
Pushed 1200 mah Micro Pack
Tekin Brushless motor
Spectrum

:ha:

Mine will be faster:sneaky:

Why did you bring this thread back from the dead? It 3 years old!

Why not. These bikes are still good fun.

Another question.
The small brushless motors don't have sensors so is there any problems with cogging? And does this happen while accelerating or only from a dead stop?
Thanks.

Greg Sharpe 09-11-2007 07:13 PM

Typically, you'd be getting a push from a deadstop, so cogging wouldn't be an issue from a dead stop.

The micro motors and speedos do indeed fit! Word of caution, DO NOT buy super big 9000kv BL motors for the bikes. Usable powerband is very important to control them, and those big motors are a handfull (ie: not fun).

Check out hobbyetc.com for an extensive list of goodies for Kyosho's 1/8 motorcycle.

p.s.-Have fun!:D

Some more questions.
-Is the 8000kv OK or still to powerfull?
-Do the faster motors have to much power when accelerating or just not enough feel?
-I've seen than GPM make other gearboxes that accept ratios impossible with a stock gearbox. Are these needed when going brushless or are these just for going fast with brushed?
-Is the optional lightweight flywheel intended to make the bike faster or just for show (more wheelies).

Thankz....

I have 2 of them. One is stock and one with a 6800 Mamba. The Mamba has to much power and the bike will speed wobble and crash easily if you get going to fast. They are a fun toy though.

Black Adder 09-12-2007 08:57 AM

Do they wobble becouse of play, weight distribution or something else?

Black Adder 09-14-2007 07:24 AM

What size is the motor (both stock and optional Kyosho)? 280, 380, ect?

vtl1180ny 09-14-2007 09:59 AM

The 5th scales are much nicer made the HOR is all plastic....

I put a Mamba 6800 in my HOR and it was just too much motor... Couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground... The bike has been sitting in a box for years... I'd rather pull out my 5th scale bikes...
