what do you guys think of " xmod rc cars"

hey guys. im not real knowledgeable when it comes to electric stuff ha ha. but my little brother (10) keeps bugging me to drive my nitro cars, and that isn't going to happen any time soon. so i wanted to get him his own "rc car"

and i was wondering what ya'll thought of the $50 radio shack sold xmod rc cars. its basically an expensive hot wheels. they sell "under-glow kits" and "body kits" generally something a 10 year old would think is cool.

now having grown up on the cheap toys r us 15 minute 5mph cars i don't want to pay $50 for one of those, but i also don't want to pay $300 for something he'll most likely break or grow tired of fairly quickly.

so do y'all think its a decent deal for a 10 year old, and $50? thanks allot!!

you should just find something rtr used in here or ebay. I purchased a tamiya tt01 once for 35$ and it worked great. I had an Xmod once years ago, it was fun it ate AA batteries and if you do ever need parts or want hop ups you will spend as much as a decent used car. Have fun.

I have a friend with a mini-z (3 actually!), they're pretty nippy, and go well with rechargeable AAA cells.

I had one while at college. I purchased every single hop-up that was available, motors, springs, gearing, tires etc. I then retro-fitted my 3PK rx to it so I could dial it in. For $150 total (including mods) In a dorm room or a gym floor, they're a hoot! But in the end, it was $150 that I probably should have spent on my full size r/c's.

We have 2 xmods and they are fun once you get them 4wd kits.

During the dead of winter it's nice to get an RC fix driving them in the living room. Rechargeable aaa's are a must.

You may also find goods deals on a Slash for your brother. I've seen used ones for $125 already.
