The rear link balls have always to be on the same level as the center pivot ball to not tilt the rear end.

If you raise all 5 balls you take away grip from the rear end.

You can raise the 2 front balls only. You will get a slight corner steering of the rear axle, as the curve outside link will elongate slightly and the inner side link will shorten slightly while deflecting.

That's interesting, as he's using a V-link connection, so the roll center is in the ground...

Right

So, with a V-link connection, if I raise the side-links, I'll raise the roll center; which means I'll get less rear grip, correct?

I'm a bit confused with pan car roll-center...

Thanks,
G-rem

No, the roll center is determined by the intersection of lines drawn lengthwise through the center V-links. (That's one advantage of using them; the roll center can be changed easily, and can be located above, at, or even below, ground level.)

The height of the side links will change the amount of anti-squat: higher gives more.

Thank you Howard, exactly the explanations I was looking for

I'm not sure where these rumors come from, as no one has asked myself or anyone else that works at CRC, but to put the truth out there, these tires ARE BELTED.

If anyone has any questions about these tires, feel free to ask the people that actually know what is going on. You can PM me, call CRC (315)-338-0867 or email me [email protected].

THIS is where I hear they weren't belted!

Thanks for clarifying, looking forward to trying those out!

I've got an RC10L with a Composite Craft ground effects chassis from "back in the day" in PRISTINE shape, along with some 235mm bodies I bought at Stormer. These cars are going to be fun on rubber tires with twin 1s batteries, one on each side of the t-bar.

Thanks for the correction, Brian. You might consider including the word "belt" on the web site to make it clear.

Do you have any recommendations for maximum allowable RPM at the wheel?

Are they in stock? EDIT: Due 9/1/15

I don't think that they are expected to hit the streets for another month or so, Howard.

What kind of performance would rubber tires have compared to foams on asphalt?

I have never found any rubber tires that work as well as foams. But at some point they will be close enough to warrant consideration, at least in some situations. I would expect that for higher speeds and lower-grip surfaces, foams will still be the first choice, performance-wise, for many more years.

The more realistic appearance and (hopefully) longer life of rubber tires will be welcome changes.
